As a member of the IT Management Team, you are responsible for managing, developing, and leading a team of employees. Your role includes leading the specific functional responsibilities of your team, which involves overseeing team performance and deliverables. However, your role as a leader within our organization requires more than the management of resources and day-to-day operations. As a steward of the company, you are charged with the development and execution of your team's strategic vision and
plan and ensuring that your team's actions align with the larger goals of the company and the IT Division.


The Manager of Software Engineering for Costco Travel is responsible for defining and executing the development strategy for Costco Travel's E-Commerce websites, web services platform and supporting applications. This individual is responsible for ensuring proper policies and procedures are in place to maintain industry leading architecture, design, and development standards for all assigned areas. This position requires extensive knowledge of large, highly available, distributed web development environments with an emphasis on e-Commerce applications. The right candidate will be responsible for the continued growth and support of the technological environments, development team's business knowledge, and the appropriate application of Costco Travel policies.

As the primary conduit between your employees and upper leadership, your role in communicating and modeling the values and guiding principles of our company culture is of vital importance. Drives all assigned projects leveraging the project execution framework.

Takes responsibility for ensuring the maximum quality of Costco Travel's technology applications.

Participates in architecture, design, and code review sessions as a coordinator, owner, reader, or observer.

Must keep current on new technology and make recommendations to the development team on future directions.

Takes responsibility for creating and managing the resource plan for the development department.

Takes responsibility, and with a desire, for driving execution of small to medium development projects.

Takes responsibility for maintaining and fostering a sense of urgency within the team and the department.

This is a full-time management/leadership position (45+ hours per week).
REQUIRED


3+ years' current experience leading/managing an e-commerce and/or e-business application development team.

Development team experience in a Java based environment required.

Recent commercial experience in Ecommerce, Web Services and Web application development required.

Experience in development environments that include some, and or all, of the following: SOAP and/or REST, MS-SQL Server and T-SQL, JDBC or equivalent data-tier frameworks, database design & development, Java EE technologies (Servlet & JSP), SOA.


Depth of experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Strong leadership and team-building skills.

Be innovative, creative and possess a passion for excellence.

Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with people at all management levels.

Detail oriented and possess strong problem-solving skills.

Excellent organizational and planning skills, with experience building strategic and tactical plans.

Extremely responsive, with a strong sense of urgency.

Ability to support a 24x7x365 environment, if needed.

HIPAA Training and Supervisors Orientation (within 30 days of hire); Leadership Development 101 (within one year); Costco Pay Policies (within 90 days of promotion).

Pay Range: $137,000 - $200,000, Bonus and Restricted Stock (RSU) Unit Eligible
