The Spine Hospital of Louisiana is seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to prepare high-quality meals for our employees, physicians, patients, and visitors. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food preparation, committed to food safety, and dedicated to providing excellent service in a healthcare environment.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes and production schedules.
  • Ensure food quality, portion control, and presentation standards are met.
  • Monitor and document food temperatures to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
  • Complete production records, temperature logs, and waste logs.
  • Assist with receiving, inspecting, and storing food and supplies.
  • Maintain proper food rotation and storage procedures.
  • Clean and sanitize food preparation areas and equipment.
  • Report equipment issues, safety concerns, and supply needs to management.
  • Follow all federal, state, local, and hospital food safety regulations.
  • Assist with special events, catering functions, and departmental projects as needed.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One or more years of cooking experience in a restaurant, healthcare, cafeteria, or institutional setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and safe food handling practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
