Director, Content Marketing, Global Payment Network

As a core member of the Brand Leadership Team, you are the architect behind our content engine. This leader will help define and drive the network’s global content strategy to engage our audience of merchants, acquirers and issuers. This role demands deep expertise across our business lines and markets. You’ll collaborate with our strategy, marketing and communication teams and apply your expertise to elevating the quality and impact of our content on

The Global Payment Network is a unique network built for global connectivity and partnership. The foundation of our global reach and payments infrastructure rests on three powerful payments leaders and distinct network brands that have operated together for almost two decades.

  • Diners Club International is a premium issuing brand that has 40+ issuers in 35+ countries; the Diners Club network is an international network that provides global acceptance to cardholders of participating Issuers from around the world
  • Pulse is a leading U.S. debit network known for its strength in real-time debit and an extensive global ATM network
Responsibilities
  • Lead our audience-based content strategies that reflect deep understanding of our network brand positioning, product value and differentiators
  • Partner with senior leaders across Pulse, Discover Network and Diners to align the editorial calendar with business priorities; acting as a trusted strategic advisor, not just a content executor.
  • Steward our marketing claims strategy in collaboration with Network teams, External Affairs, Legal, and Compliance departments ensuring they support brand strategy while minimizing enterprise risk
  • Use performance data, client feedback, and competitive intelligence as editorial inputs by treating every insight as a signal about what to commission next, what to move on from, and where the opportunity sits.
  • Stay close to the competitive landscape with a restless curiosity; tracking what the best content operations in financial services and beyond are doing, identifying where they fall short, and ensuring Global Payment Network leads rather than follows.
  • Partner with creative leadership to produce engaging assets across video, social, website
  • Use continual performance data, partner feedback, and competitive intelligence as editorial input about what to produce next, what to move on from, and where the opportunity lies
  • Oversee the adaptation and localization of content strategies across priority international markets, ensuring global brand consistency while respecting local market dynamics.
  • Partner with Enterprise Communications and Strategy teams to architect content strategies that ensure Global Payment Network has a strong voice in the Payments ecosystem - e.g. executive thought leadership program, payment award strategy, industry analyst outreach
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree or Military Experience
  • At least 10 years of experience in content development or brand narrative management.
  • At least 3 years of experience working within regulatory and compliance environment.
  • At least 5 years of people management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 15+ years of experience in content strategy, editorial leadership, or thought leadership, with meaningful time spent in or around wealth management, asset management, or financial services.
  • Deep subject-matter expertise across the payment landscape and the economics.
  • A proven track record of leading and developing content teams of setting standards, building culture, and elevating the work of the people around you.
  • Experience working in regulated environments while maintaining creativestandards.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and drive consensus in a highly matrixed, multi-brand organization without direct authority over all cross-functional partners.

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $206,000 - $235,100 for Director, BrandChicago, IL: $187,300 - $213,700 for Director, BrandNew York, NY: $224,800 - $256,500 for Director, BrandRiverwoods, IL: $187,300 - $213,700 for Director, Brand

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
