Position Summary...The Senior Manager, Construction-DS, leads the successful execution and delivery of construction projects, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards. This role directs contractors and partners, manages compliance with design and regulatory requirements, and drives risk mitigation throughout project lifecycles. Collaborating cross-functionally, the position oversees project governance, vendor performance, and continuous process improvements to enhance constructability and efficiency. The Senior Manager also fosters team development and accountability while maintaining comprehensive documentation and reporting to support strategic business objectives and operational excellence within Walmart's construction program.
Our Southeast Business Unit team consists of skilled construction professionals dedicated to delivering projects on time, within scope, and budget. The team leads collaboration with contractors, architects, and cross-functional partners to ensure compliance with design standards and regulatory requirements. They focus on risk management, quality control, and process improvements to enhance project execution. With strong leadership and communication skills, the team drives accountability, supports continuous learning, and maintains high standards of integrity and operational excellence throughout all construction phases.What you'll do...
  • Lead construction projects ensuring completion on schedule, within scope, and budget while directing contractors and design partners.
  • Review and approve construction drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure compliance with design standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage construction compliance by conducting routine reviews and enforcing adherence to Walmart and industry standards.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors to resolve issues, negotiate change orders, and monitor performance metrics.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Store Development, Facilities, Procurement, and Operations to align project goals and report progress to leadership.
  • Drive process improvements, document best practices, and mentor team members to enhance project delivery and operational efficiency.

What you'll bring:
  • Extensive experience in construction management, including project execution, budgeting, and contract oversight.
  • Out of the ground/ civil construction experience.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage teams and coordinate multiple contractors and vendors effectively.
  • Strong expertise in risk management, quality control, and compliance with building codes and company standards.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities to drive project momentum and resolve issues promptly.
  • Proficiency in project management, including schedule development, financial management, and performance tracking.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and present clear, concise reports to stakeholders.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and process optimization within construction delivery.
