Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of full-time construction field work experience or
  • Associate's Degree and 6 years of full-time construction field work experience or
  • High School Diploma/GED and 8 years of full-time construction field work experience.
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Environmental Sciences or related field and 4 years of full-time Electric and/or Construction field work experience.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a manager or supervisor. Required
  • Experience in electric construction and/or operations including the UG and OH Electrical system. Required
  • Experience in contracts and account reconciliations. Required
  • Experience with or the ability to learn in depth knowledge of codes, standards, maps, procedures and specifications including Code 753. Required
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications. Required
  • Must have the ability to exercise in-depth judgment and render sound business decisions by balancing priorities, handle multiple work assignments with changing priorities, develop a strategic plan, take decisive action and meet strict deadlines. Required
  • Must be able to work both independently and within a team environment and be able to interact effectively with all levels of management, union work force, and external agencies when necessary. Required
  • Experience in the review and implementation of contract specification, drawings, scheduling, and planning. Required
  • Should also possess strong negotiating skills and an understanding of construction contract issues. Preferred
  • Knowledge of Con Edison's accounting systems, such as Oracle EBS, BI, and other productivity measurements to develop and analyze performance metrics. Preferred

Additional Physical Demands

  • May be required to operate personal vehicles to travel to various company locations.
  • Must be medically approved to wear respirator.
Core Responsibilities
  • Manage, direct and control all aspects of contract administration and inspection activities associated with the Chief Construction Inspectors supporting Construction Management and Electric Operations.
  • Will be responsible to monitor and evaluate activities of personnel inclusive of company forces and contractors to ensure attainment of performance goals and high-quality standards.
  • Manage timely updates in Contractor Oversight System for all work performed by contractors, including CFORs, CERs, infraction reports and action lines.
  • Directs the department's procurement activities including the supervision of personnel responsible for the preparation of purchase requisitions, general office invoices, and payment of those invoices.
  • Provide technical and operational assistance to the operating organizations and will be expected to spearhead creative solutions to business challenges and provide recommendations for process improvements.
  • The Manager and the CCIs that report to them will act as a liaison to internal construction groups performing inspection and oversight activities.
  • Support the Special Projects Construction Manager in various capacities and will be a participant in teams and committees as required.
  • Monitors the development of the annual O&M, Capital and Human Resource budgets and provide recommendations to maintain adherence to budget goals to support the attainment of departmental and organizational KPIs.

Ensure that the Human Performance Improvement (HPI) tools are incorporated into daily work activities. Must be attentive to internal and external customers needs.
