Job description

Description:

Under the general direction of the Operations Manager, this position leads in coordinating and monitoring daily activities of the warehouse team in material moving, staging, shipping, receiving products and ensure bin/system inventory accuracy for all component parts. The Warehouse Supervisor ensures safety and quality are met, meets targeted production goals, and assures good customer service. Performs wide range of duties including operating all types of equipment, performing material handling, as well as performing utility functions as needed under the direction of the Operations Manager. 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions

· Confers with materials team for daily customer shipping requirements. 

· Responsible for team’s activities for all receiving, production job picking and customer outbound shipping process. 

· Trains Material Handlers in equipment operation, material handling, shipping, and receiving processes, and safety and quality standards. 

· Ensures that proper procedures are used in the staging and sequencing of material for assembly operations based on FIFO. 

· Monitors and expedites flow of material to workstations and communicates to production supervision recurring issues with material availability, staffing concerns, and other related issues that affect safety, quality, and productivity. 

· Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.

· Detects and/or notifies maintenance personnel of equipment malfunctions/abnormalities. 

· Ensures completion of daily PMs for department. 

· Operates material handling equipment as needed. 

· Maintains Shipping and Receiving records using written records, computers, bar code scanning equipment, or other technologies. 

· Reads and validates Shipping and Receiving documents. 

· Answers questions pertaining to proper Shipping and Receiving methods, freight requirements, equipment operation, and quality standards. 

· Maintains inventory accuracy for all warehouse bin locations.

· Problem solves inventory variance issues.

· Performs inventory cycle counts to check system inventory quantities to maintain a high level of accuracy, making corrections per approved process/policy.

· Performs and understands processes related to non-conforming material systems. 

· Completes necessary forms, logs, tags, labels, and related documentation that support manufacturing and/or quality systems. 

· Maintains workplace organization and housekeeping standards consistent with company policies and practices. Applies and implements 5S principles throughout areas of responsibility.

· Uses existing internal scheduling systems as a signal to move appropriate materials to support all internal suppliers and customers. 

· Continuously strives for excellent customer service and is involved in the customer complaint and corrective action systems when needed. 

· Responsible for maintaining and following IATF 16949/ISO 9001 quality standards and standard operating procedures. 

· Maintains and protects all company assets under their control while fostering loss prevention awareness. 

· Manage asset essentials, support facilities, and provide IT support.

· Prepare and submit reports on warehouse performance, inventory, and other metrics as required by management.

· Performs other related duties as required.

· Ability to perform the functions in the department to which assigned.

Requirements:

· High School diploma or GED. 

· Must have two (2) years Material Handling/Shipping leadership experience, or equivalent. 

· Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment; preferably within the automotive industry.

· Must have computer skills for utilizing the company’s ERP system and possess basic ability for the use of MS Word and Excel.

· Must be detailed oriented and have good planning and organization skills. 

· Certification and ability to drive a forklift and operate other warehouse equipment safely.

· Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods.

· Must be able to work all scheduled hours including overtime.

· Ability to write and edit department work instructions.

Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of maintenance equipment and tools. Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle. Must be able to use body members to work, move, or carry objects or materials. Must be able to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to twenty pounds frequently. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for physically active work. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of ten to fifty pounds.

Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; add, subtract, multiply and divide figures; determine percentages; determine time weight.
