Job description

Job Description: This position is primarily responsible for maintaining the golf course grounds by performing a variety of golf course maintenance duties. Minimum age 18 years old. Job Responsibilities: • Receives verbal instructions from supervisor.
• Using appropriate techniques and equipment, mows tees, fairways, and greens to specification as determined by supervisor
• Applies chemicals to golf course turf as instructed by supervisor.
• Empties trash cans and checks ball wash areas for cleanliness and good working order.
• Under supervision of the assistant superintendent or foreman, performs work involving the use of large equipment, including tractors, loaders, trenchers, backhoes, trucks and other maintenance equipment.
• Mows fairways and roughs with gang units.
• Operates all types of equipment; turf vac, skip-loader, aerifiers, sprayers, push mowers, edgers, backpack blowers, and other small equipment.
• Ensures that the equipment cooling system is working at all times; refills fuel and oil daily; cleans equipment daily; and reports equipment problems or failures to Mechanic or Equipment Manager immediately.
• Provides basic preventive maintenance on equipment as directed by the Mechanic or Assistant Superintendent, and returns equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility.
• Performs other duties as directed by his/her supervisor.
• May operates snow removal equipment to maintain parking lots and sidewalks.
• Digs and weeds flower beds and plants flowers.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Maintenance Crew Worker - OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to communicate effectively with both English and Spanish speaking co-workers
Ability to operate all equipment used for golf course maintenance
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
If applicable, commercial driver's license minimum driver's licenseIf applicable, Virginia pesticide license or other relevant licenses required by regulatory agencies
OPERATIONS OF SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT:
Golf course maintenance equipment including but not limited to all types of mowers, sprayers, sand rakes, and utility vehicles and small engine machinery and tools
Heavy construction equipment including but not limited to backhoe, tractors, loaders

The employee must frequently and regularly lift/move/push/pull up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
