Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a safety administrator for our surface and underground operations near Berry, Alabama. We expect this person to be a role model for the "Warrior Way" and uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and teamwork.

Mining positions may be required to work various shifts, rotating schedules, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. About the Role:

As a safety administrator you would provide administrative and clerical support to the mine safety department. This position is responsible for maintaining safety records, tracking training and certifications, preparing reports, assisting with compliance documentation, and supporting daily safety operations to help ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and organize mine safety records, equipment, reports, and documentation.
  • Track employee safety training, certifications, and refresher courses.
  • Assist with preparation and submission of regulatory reports and compliance documents.
  • Enter and maintain accurate data in safety databases and spreadsheets.
  • File incident reports, inspection records, and corrective action documentation.
  • Coordinate scheduling for safety meetings, training sessions, and inspections.
  • Assist safety personnel with audits, investigations, and compliance reviews.
  • Monitor and update MSHA-required postings and documentation.
  • Maintain inventory of safety supplies, forms, and PPE records.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly safety performance reports.
  • Answer phones, emails, and communications related to safety operations.
  • Ensure confidentiality and accuracy of employee and company records.
  • Support other administrative functions as assigned by management.

Who You are:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous clerical, administrative, or mining industry experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of coal mining operations and MSHA regulations preferred.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational and recordkeeping abilities.
  • Strong communication and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy required.

Environment and Safety

  • Combination of office and mine site environments.
  • Exposure to industrial settings, dust, noise, and changing temperatures when visiting mine areas.
  • Must follow all company and mine safety regulations and PPE requirements.

Physical Requirements - Office:

  • Sitting:Being able to sit at a computer for extended periods
  • Lifting:Being able to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally or a negligible amount frequently
  • Repetitive motion:Being able to move the hands, wrists, and/or fingers substantially
  • Visual acuity:Having close visual acuity for reading, preparing data, and viewing a computer terminal
  • Walking:Being able to walk short distances
  • Noise:Working in moderate noise
  • Confined spaces:Working in a confined area
  • Environmental factors:Being exposed to environmental factors that could stress or pressure the worker
