Job description

Description

Ascentec Engineering is hiring a Dev NPI Prototype Machinist I/II who will support CNC machining operations for prototype and Low-Volume/High-Mix (LVHM) parts. This role focuses on machine operation, basic setups, part inspection, and multi-axis machining skills. It also requires the ability to collaborate across engineering, project management, and production teams. 


This position is onsite (not remote/not hybrid) and not eligible for Visa sponsorship or transfer of Visa sponsorship.


SolidWorks, MasterCam proficiency tests may be required in the interview process.

Requirements

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with CNC machine setup and operation for prototype parts on vertical, horizontal, and 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC machine centers.
  • Run simple to highly complex part geometries to specification using established programs and work instructions.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and follow machining processes.
  • Communicate project status with engineering, project management, and production stakeholders.
  • Perform in-process inspection using standard metrology tools.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and follow safety procedures.
  • Experience creating limited CAM toolpaths using MasterCAM is a bonus.

QUALIFICATIONS & TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • 2-4 years of CNC precision machining experience or completion of a machining/technical program.
  • Familiarity with CNC tools using Haas, Fanuc, and Okuma controls; exposure to multi-axis machining is a plus.
  • Solid math skills (general math, geometry, trigonometry).
  • Demonstrated understanding ASME blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge.
  • Comfortable using calipers, micrometers, and other inspection tools.
