Job description

Ascentec Engineering is hiring a Dev NPI Prototype CNC Machinist III/IV who will be responsible for CNC setup, machining, and some programming of quick-turn prototype and Low-Volume/High-Mix (LVHM) parts. This role requires strong multi-axis machining capability, solid understanding of manufacturability, and the ability to collaborate across engineering, project management, and production teams.
This position is onsite (not remote/not hybrid) and not eligible for Visa sponsorship or transfer of Visa sponsorship.
Please note that MasterCam or NX proficiency tests may be required in the interview process.
Requirements
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Set up and operate vertical, horizontal, and 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC machine centers for prototype and LVHM parts.
  • Machine components with simple to highly complex geometries.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings and CAD models; using SolidWorks and drawing packages.
  • Assess part manufacturability and build fixturing, and setups to achieve print GD&T.
  • Communicate capacity constraints and project status with engineering, project management, and production stakeholders.
  • Provide machining time estimates and process input to the estimating team.
  • Ability to create limited CAM toolpaths using MasterCAM; contribute to standardized programming and work-holding methods.

QUALIFICATIONS & TECHNICAL SKILLS:
  • Five or more years of precision CNC machining experience, including multi-axis work.
  • Experience with Haas, Fanuc, Okuma, and DMG controls.
  • Skilled in machining aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, and plastics.
  • Strong ASME blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge.
  • Solid math skills (general math, geometry, trigonometry).
  • Ability to support quality control and first-article inspections.
  • Proficient with metrology tools; CMM experience preferred.
  • 2 or more years of recent MasterCAM programming experience.
  • 2 or more years of recent SolidWorks experience navigating through drawings and 3D models.
