 Summary

The CNC Programmer is responsible for creating, modifying, and optimizing CNC programs used to manufacture precision components. This position works closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure parts are produced accurately, efficiently, and safely while meeting customer specifications and production schedules.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and modify CNC programs for milling, turning, and multi-axis machining centers. 
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD models, and GD&T requirements. 
  • Create tool paths using Mastercam CAM software (experience with other CAM      software will be considered) 
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, feeds, and speeds to maximize efficiency and quality. 
  • Perform program prove-outs and troubleshoot machining issues during first article production. 
  • Optimize cycle times while maintaining product quality and dimensional accuracy. 
  • Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality personnel to resolve manufacturing challenges. 
  • Support new product introductions and continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Verify completed programs and ensure documentation is accurate and up to date. 
  • Assist in designing and improving fixtures and tooling. 
  • Maintain program revisions and document process changes. 
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and manufacturing standards. 
  • Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement efforts. 

Qualifications 

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of CNC programming experience in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Manufacturing Technology, CNC      Programming, Machining, or related field preferred. 
  • Experience programming CNC mills and Lathes. 
  • Experience with programing multi-axis machining centers is a plus. 
  • Strong understanding of machining processes. 
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T. 
  • Experience with CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, NX, or similar. 
  • Knowledge of G-code and M-code programming. 
  • Familiarity with precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and CMMs. 
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems is a plus. 
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. 
  • SolidWorks experience is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. 
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.      
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. 
  • Frequently lift up to 30 pounds; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds with assistance. 
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and work around manufacturing equipment. 
  • Manual dexterity to operate machinery and measuring equipment. 
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). 

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing production environment with exposure to machine noise, moving mechanical parts, and coolant. 
  • Safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, hearing protection, and other PPE are required.
