UCHealth (Colorado) is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist for a job in Aurora, Colorado.

Department: UCHA Lab Microbiology
Work Schedule: •
Full Time - 70 hours / pay period
Evening Shift between the hours of 15000130
Including rotating Every 4th Weekend and Holidays
Shift: Evenings
Pay: $33.82 - $50.73 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience
This position is an onsite role and does not offer a hybrid or remote option
Summary:
Performs laboratory testing of patient specimens in the Microbiology Department, Bacteriology section of the laboratory, including parasitology, culture reading, bacteria identification and antimicrobial susceptibility review.
Responsibilities:

  • Performs diagnostic/analytic testing of specimens. Interprets, documents and reports test results.
  • Performs quality control testing, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Complies with good laboratory practice and regulatory requirements.
  • Performs projects as assigned as well as serves as a resource to laboratory staff and other clinical staff as needed.
  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and graduate of an accredited Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist program.
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Medical Technologists (AMT) or as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or categorical ASCP certification in a laboratory specialty/sub-specialty as applicable to job responsibilities. State licensure if required by law. Certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Previous experience in Microbiology reading culture plates preferred.
  • Previous experience with Microbiology digital culture reading and laboratory automation preferred.
