Wood is recruiting for a Civil Engineer to join its Oil & Gas business focusing on the Operations Americas unit. This opportunity is onsite in Sheridan, WY, United States.

The Role
This role is responsible for leading civil engineering projects from initial concept through construction and close-out, including the design, preparation, and submission of site plans, technical drawings, calculations, and permit applications for land development and oil and gas projects. The position works closely with multidisciplinary teams, regulatory agencies, contractors, and clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in full compliance with local, state, federal, and environmental regulations, while maintaining high standards of quality, sustainability, and performance.

Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities
  • Design and oversee civil engineering projects from concept through completion.
  • Prepare site plans and plat packets for oil and gas permitting.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including surveyors, drafters, and project managers.
  • Develop plans that include details and specifications suitable for submitting permit applications (post-construction stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, land development, and NPDES).
  • Manage, design, develop, create and maintain small-scale through to large-scale construction projects in a safe, timely and sustainable manner
  • Produce designs/calculations, complete plans and permit applications, and coordinate with reviewing agencies.
  • Perform construction administration and field observations during construction projects.
  • Prepare drawings, documents, details, schedules, and specifications using programs such as AutoCAD and Civil3D.
  • Manage projects, including client relationship management, schedule maintenance, and budget oversight.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external team members.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, identifying and mitigating risks as they arise.
  • Ensure all civil engineering designs and construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental standards.
  • Prepare and submit required documentation for permitting and approvals.
  • Implement and oversee quality control processes to ensure that all civil engineering work meets the highest standards of safety, reliability, and durability.

Expected:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
  • 3-5 years of civil engineering experience required.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, and related design software.
  • Strong knowledge of local codes, standards, and permitting processes.
  • Experience in project management and team coordination.
  • Familiarity with Oil and Gas industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
