  • Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives
  • Maintain consistent communication with families to support student growth
Additional Expectations
  • All HMMA teachers are expected to sponsor at least one club or Enrichment block as part of their full-time role (not eligible for additional compensation)
  • As a Verizon Innovative Learning School (VILS), teachers are expected to integrate technology effectively and support digital equity for all students
  • Active participation in professional learning communities and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Science Education, or a related field (required)
  • Louisiana teaching certification in Chemistry or eligibility to obtain certification (preferred)
  • High school teaching experience strongly preferred
  • Strong classroom management, planning, and relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology and culturally responsive teaching practices
  • Commitment to educational equity and a growth mindset
Why Teach at HMMA?
  • Be part of a bold vision to reimagine high school through a maritime career lens
  • Work alongside dedicated educators in a supportive, mission-driven environment
  • Gain access to innovative professional development through the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools program
  • Play a vital role in closing opportunity gaps and expanding access to STEM and career-based pathways
