Location: Plano, Texas

Description

The Wireless Cellular/Radio Engineer is responsible for the development of standards, solution architectures and roadmaps for Client Cellular and Radio infrastructure. This individual will work with business facing teams & users to design appropriate solutions that meet business requirements for cellular network demands across North America locations. This individual successfully analyzes requirements and designs technical solutions for complex problems. This person evaluates technical and economic feasibility of systems solutions (e.g., costs, benefits, feature/functionality, interoperability, scalability, maintainability, etc.) based on the full technology life cycle. The person in this role will support the department’s objectives by ensuring the stability and availability of cellular/radio network hardware and software, by planning capacity of the Cellular infrastructure for Campus, Manufacturing sites, Data Centers and other remote sites. The Cellular Engineer collaborates with other network teams (LAN, WAN, Security) and domain architects to evaluate and introduce newtechnology standards.

Requirements

Key/Primary Responsibilities

• Support Customer Private Cellular initiatives including Proof of Concepts and Production deployments.

• Own and fulfill small to large strategic or tactical Private Cellular projects. Function as point of Escalation for project execution issues.

• Help design, test, and implement new Cellular/Radio solutions and Proof of Concepts.

• Helps with the vendor and solution selection process.

• Lead weekly project status meetings.

• Conduct and/or coordinate site surveys, develop site plans to gain total coverage of facility.

• Coordinate resources, track execution, and validate new deployments, upgrades, and expansions.

• Supervise and or performing site installs, maintenance, upgrades, or software enhancements to support the cellular DAS/Private Cellular infrastructure needs.

• Function as a point of escalation for operational issues, work with vendors for timely resolution.

• Submit and track Change Management for all Cellular/Radio systems.

• Monitor system for trouble areas and proactively resolve and document root cause.

• Support service tickets as needed while engaged on enterprise cellular deployments.

• Engage with manufacturer technical support centers to quickly resolve issues as they arise.

• Create/maintain Operational Support Guides and any other documentation.

• Travel to site when required to support deployments, testing and validation.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Business Administration, Management

Information Systems or related discipline, or equivalent work experience

• 8 to 10 years of professional experience.

• High-level teaming and communication skills to influence and persuade others.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create and present concepts and recommendations to management.

• Experience with Cellular Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) and signal boosting solutions.

• Experience designing and deploying Private Cellular solutions (Private 4G/5G on licensed and/or CBRS spectrums)

• Strong understanding of Network technologies and TCP/IP protocols (LAN, WAN, WLAN) and firewall.

• Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with analysis and performance evaluation tools such as Wireshark, iPerf etc.

• Extensive experience with Wireless technologies, knowledge of RF and LTE Networks

• Willingness and ability to learn new technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher certification

• Experience designing and deploying Private Cellular Network solutions
