Manager Causal Inference information

What does a manager causal inference do?

A Manager Causal Inference leads teams that analyze data to determine cause-and-effect relationships, often in business, healthcare, or technology settings. They design experiments or use statistical methods to understand how different factors influence outcomes, helping organizations make data-driven decisions. This role typically involves managing projects, overseeing analysts or data scientists, and communicating findings to stakeholders. Strong expertise in statistics, data analysis, and leadership is essential for success in this position.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a manager causal inference?

To thrive as a Manager of Causal Inference, you need a deep understanding of statistics, econometrics, and experimental design, typically supported by an advanced degree in a quantitative field. Proficiency with data analysis tools such as R, Python, SQL, and specialized causal inference libraries, along with experience using data visualization and project management platforms, is crucial. Strong leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills help you effectively guide teams and translate complex findings to stakeholders. These skills ensure rigorous, actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making and organizational impact.

How does a manager causal inference typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive impactful business insights?

Managers of Causal Inference frequently work alongside data scientists, product managers, engineers, and business leaders to design and execute experiments that reveal the true impact of business decisions. They translate complex statistical findings into actionable recommendations, ensuring stakeholders understand both the methodology and implications. Regularly, they lead discussions on experiment design, data collection strategies, and result interpretation, fostering a culture of evidence-based decision-making across the organization.

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to drive high-impact work across Growth, Core Product Flows, Incentives, and more. This is a high-ownership role. You will work end-to-end from problem framing to deployment and measurement, and you will help establish the foundations for how Paraform does experimentation, measurement, and applied ML.

Paraform sits at the intersection of a high-velocity marketplace and AI-native workflows. Your work will shape how we grow, how our core product performs, and how incentives drive behavior across recruiters and customers. If you want to build systems that improve outcomes at scale while working at the intersection of data, product, AI, and business, this is the job.

What You Will Work On

The current product roadmap focuses on:

  • Growth: Define and measure the funnel, run experiments, and build models to improve acquisition, activation, retention, and revenue.

  • Core product flows: Improve match quality and workflow speed across sourcing, outreach, CRM, and placements through metrics, analysis, and ML.

  • Incentives: Design and evaluate pricing and payout incentives, forecast impact, and build guardrails against gaming and adverse outcomes.

What We Are Looking For
  • Product-minded: You connect analysis and modeling work to user outcomes and shipped product decisions.

  • Strong causal thinking: You can distinguish correlation from causation and choose appropriate experimental or observational methods.

  • Analytical excellence: You are fluent in SQL and can do rigorous analysis in Python (or similar).

  • Modeling & ML: You can build, evaluate, and iterate on models used in production, and you know how to set up monitoring.

  • Communication: You write and present clearly, and you can align cross-functional partners on definitions and decisions.

  • High ownership: You can independently take ambiguous problems from 0 → 1.

Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in data science, applied ML, analytics, or a closely related role.

  • Strong experience with experimentation and/or causal inference in product settings.

  • Strong experience with SQL and a general-purpose language (Python preferred).

  • Experience partnering with engineering teams to ship models, metrics, or data products.

  • Degree in data science, computer science, statistics, math, or another related field.

Preferred
  • Experience with data integration and pipeline development.

  • Experience in marketplaces, growth, incentives, or pricing.

  • Experience working with AI-assisted or agentic workflows.

Tech Stack
  • SQL, Python
