Job description

The Project Engineer is responsible for enhancing plant operations by managing capital and expense projects in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner. This results in improvements to plant facilities, safety and quality, unit efficiency, and overall operating reliability. Additional plant and process support assigned outside of projects, as needed.

Ensure ESH Compliance:
  • Promote good safety/housekeeping standards.
  • Attend safety meetings.
  • Complete all required ES&H training.
  • Comply with all ES&H regulatory requirements
  • Comply with ISO/cGMP/HACCP/Food Safety requirements.
  • Conduct necessary ES&H project safety reviews.
  • Utilize JHA/Hazop process to conduct safety reviews.
  • Ensure projects comply with all plant and regulatory safety standards.
  • Assure contractors utilized are qualified and meet ICL safety programs.
  • Support and participate in HOP safety system.
  • Issue MOCs to document changes due to project work.

Ensure Project Management:
  • Ensure compliance will all relevant project management and engineering standards.
  • Orderly and timely execution of projects.
  • Effective utilization of capital dollars.
  • Projects on budget, schedule and operability per design.
  • Ability to handle multiple capital projects.
  • Meet estimating cost expectations.
  • Projects written and championed through approval process.
  • Communicate extensively with project customers to clearly define requirements (scope, budget, timing, expectations, etc.).
  • Support improvements in equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Spare parts are identified and approved.

Ensure Cost Management:
  • Intimate involvement with local and corporate Procurement throughout all phases of project in order to meet corporate policies and maximize cost competitiveness.
  • Intimate involvement with local cost accountant to thoroughly document and track costs.
  • Project status and cost reports issued/maintained.
  • Provide leadership to plant improvement or expansion projects.
  • Provide innovative solutions in projects that display extensive development and analysis of alternatives.
  • Working knowledge and management of capital cost accounting system.
  • Control and management of projects completed within level of monetary authorization.

Project Development:
  • Ability to develop, justify and execute projects from concept through start-up.
  • Proven success with technically difficult and challenging projects.
  • Maximize utilization of internal resources.
  • Use project management best practices.
  • Manage new and increasingly challenging projects.

Ensure Project Execution:
  • Supervise outside contractors and maintenance forces on assigned projects.
  • Support operations/maintenance for equipment/process troubleshooting.
  • Be an effective technical, maintenance, and operations resource.
  • Supporting the plant in driving improved equipment and process reliability

What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role?
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical) or related field with equivalent job experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years project engineering work experience in chemical manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Project management/engineering experience.
  • Ability to work independently and/or in a team/leader capacity.
  • Outstanding communication, organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Understand chemical processes.
  • Understand basics of control systems.
  • Experience in projects utilizing external engineering and construction firms.
  • Ability to safely exit out of the plant in the event of an emergency.

Compensation at ICL: If you are hired at ICL, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. We also offer a generous benefits package (more information on benefits listed below).
Salary Range: $81,000 - $139,000
Annual Bonus Target: 5% - 7%, subject to plan provisions.
