Job description

Manager, Quality Control

We are looking for a Quality Control Manager to join our Peachtree City, GA team!

The Quality Manager for our facility oversees the testing, validation, and process control of the manufacturing of bulk bonded solid film lubricants (SFL) and engineered coatings.

They ensure that these high-performance, corrosion-resistant, low friction/wear-resistant coatings meet precise manufacturer requirements as well as aerospace, military, and OEM specification requirements.

Location: Peachtree City, Georgia

Salary: $95,000 - $105,000

Your Challenge

Quality Management System & Compliance

  • Maintain and improve the AS9100 / ISO 9001 system tailored to coating formulation and manufacturing.
  • Serve as the primary quality representative for all customer and third-party audits to maintain accreditation and approvals.
  • Ensure all products comply with industry, OEM, military and aerospace coating specifications (e.g., MIL-PRF-46010, AS5272) along with regulatory requirements, including product qualifications efforts.
  • Maintain approved supplier list, production quality metrics, and quality sample and documentation retention.

Quality Assurance Lab & Process Quality Control

  • Oversee the QA testing laboratory, ensuring precise verification of coating thickness, adhesion, cure, corrosion, abrasion, chemical resistance, friction coefficients, and wear life as well as equipment maintenance, calibration and certifications.
  • Direct the incoming inspection and approval of all specialized raw materials, resins, pigments, and solid lubricants (e.g., MoS2, PTFE, graphite).
  • Manage the Material Review Board (MRB) for non-conforming batches, application anomalies, and strict shelf-life/storage constraints.

Corporate Integration & Continuous Improvement

  • Align site quality metrics with global corporate KPIs, on time delivery, quality performance, and cost of poor quality and report as required.
  • Lead robust root cause investigations (8D, 5-Why, etc.) for process deviations, coating failures, or contamination issues. Develop suitable corrective and preventive actions and strive for continuous improvements.
  • Standardize Statistical Process Control (SPC) for critical variables in manufacturing and quality.

Team Leadership & Technical Collaboration

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing quality-focused team within the quality department and throughout the facility (2 direct reports).
  • Direct daily interaction with Customer Service team, Production, Operations, and Maintenance departments for contract review, customer complaints, corrective action, specialized testing or certifications, and maintaining alignment with the QMS.
  • Focus on error reduction and error elimination in key processes.
  • Develop and maintain FOD and counterfeit prevention initiatives.
  • Partner with R&D and Application Engineering to seamlessly transition new engineered coatings from the lab to high-volume production.
  • Will be a member of the safety team to ensure safety is prioritized throughout the facility and compliant with OSHA, corporate, and local regulations.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree: Materials Science, Chemistry, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.

  • 5 years of quality management experience within a manufacturing environment. Experience within an aerospace coatings, chemical manufacturing, or advanced surface-finishing environment preferred.

  • Expertise in root cause analysis (RCA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Statistical Process Control (SPC).

  • Proven track record managing quality systems in a large, matrixed corporate structure.

  • AS9100, ISO9001 experience is required (internal and external audits)

  • Must be able to manage and develop the QMS system

  • Must be able to effectively manage a team of 2 delegate and collaborate with the management team

  • Must be a US Citizen

Preferred

  • Hands-on experience with coating characterization equipment and mechanical testing (e.g., adhesion testing, tribology & wear testing, salt spray corrosion testing).

  • Deep knowledge of tribology principles, solid film lubricants, understanding of metallurgy and surface pretreatments (anodize, phosphate, chem-film, abrasive blast), thin-film engineered coatings, and their associated application methods (e.g., spray, dip-spin, curing).
