Regional Construction Manager - Bess
The Regional Construction Manager - BESS provides regional construction leadership across multiple battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. This position requires complete and thorough technical knowledge of the construction process and a strong focus on safety, quality, schedule, cost, and customer satisfaction. The Regional Construction Manager leads the organization, implementation, and completion of BESS construction projects and executes the construction strategy by establishing priorities and allocating labor, equipment, materials, and other resources for efficient and effective project delivery.
What You'll Do
- Oversee the selection and coordination of subcontractors working across the civil, structural, electrical, controls, and commissioning phases of multiple BESS projects.
- Ensure proper administration of construction contracts and completion of all required permits, licenses, inspections, and project documentation.
- Track and control construction schedules and associated costs to achieve completion of projects within the approved time and budget.
- Report to senior management on project progress, risks, resource needs, and any necessary modifications to plans.
- Work with senior leadership to develop long-term plans for growth and development of regional BESS construction capacity.
- Manage staffing and schedules related to the day-to-day construction requirements of multiple BESS projects.
- Review progress reports, address reported difficulties, and correct safety, quality, schedule, or other project deficiencies.
- Determine appropriate revenue recognition measures, ensure timely and accurate reporting of project costs, and monitor project payables.
- Understand revenue models, profit and loss performance, and cost-to-completion projections and make decisions accordingly.
- Ensure project legal documents, permits, inspections, and related approvals are completed and properly documented.
- Create long-term department plans and work with staff to establish and follow individual annual and 90-day plans.
- Work with the Vice President to develop cost-effective budgets, schedules, and tracking systems for completion of multiple projects using a logical pattern for resource utilization.
- Optimize the use of labor, materials, and equipment and support their procurement on cost-effective terms.
- Coordinate construction operations with Project Management, Superintendents, Safety, QA/QC, Engineering, Project Controls, and other support functions.
What You'll Bring
- Minimum of ten (10) years of combined experience in construction administration and management in activities that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Experience in BESS, electrical power, substation, renewable energy, or other complex EPC construction is preferred.
- Any other combination of education and experience deemed appropriate.
- Working knowledge of BESS construction processes, including civil, structural, electrical, controls, medium-voltage and low-voltage systems, QA/QC, and commissioning activities.
- Knowledge of applicable NEC requirements, electrical codes, OSHA standards, construction safety practices, and project specifications.
- Reliable, customer-oriented, and willing to be part of a construction team made up of honest and dependable professionals.
- Ability to effectively solve problems and conflicts.
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and provide leadership in the execution of complex construction projects and organize a team effort.
