The St. James Manager of Baseball & Softball will oversee all aspects of the Diamond Sports business across programming, leagues, teams and tournaments.

We are seeking a highly motivated teammate to join our team. As the Manager of Baseball & Softball, the individual will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of business operations for The St. James. This includes managing teams, leagues, tournaments, camps, and clinics, external facility partnerships and ensuring the smooth operation of day-to-day activities. The role also encompasses payroll management, business administration, and facility oversight. This position requires a dynamic individual with strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to ensure the facility's programs are executed effectively while maintaining a high standard of customer service and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Program Management:
    • Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of baseball and softball team practices, leagues, tournaments, camps, and clinics.
    • Develop and manage year-round programming to meet the needs of different age groups and skill levels.
    • Ensure all activities run smoothly, including coordinating coaches, staff, and volunteers.
    • Monitor participant enrollment and ensure appropriate staffing levels for all programs.
    • Collaborate with marketing to promote programs and increase participation.
  1. Team & Staff Oversight:
    • Recruit, train, and supervise coaches and instructors for baseball and softball programs.
    • Ensure coaching staff maintains high standards of instruction and player development.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive environment for all participants and staff.
    • Evaluate staff performance regularly and provide constructive feedback for growth and improvement.
  1. Facility & Equipment Management:
    • Oversee the daily operations of the 6 batting cages within the Hitting House, ensuring they are maintained, safe, and operational.
    • Coordinate the scheduling and utilization of cages for training, lessons, and recreational use.
    • Ensure all baseball and softball equipment is properly maintained and replaced when necessary.
    • Maintain relationships with external facility partners to secure additional diamonds to support business growth.
  1. Payroll & Business Administration:
    • Manage payroll for all staff within the baseball and softball department.
    • Handle business administration tasks, including budgeting, financial reporting, and invoicing.
    • Work with the facility's leadership team to ensure programs meet financial goals and maintain profitability.
    • Develop and implement policies for efficient operations and program delivery.
  1. Customer Service & Community Engagement:
    • Provide excellent customer service to all program participants and their families.
    • Act as a point of contact for parents, players, and staff regarding any issues or concerns.
    • Build relationships with local schools, organizations, and communities to increase participation in programs.
    • Gather feedback from participants to continuously improve the quality of programs and services.
  1. Health & Safety:
    • Ensure all programs, camps, clinics, and events adhere to safety guidelines and industry best practices.
    • Monitor the cleanliness and safety of the facility, particularly the cages and field areas.
    • Enforce policies regarding injury prevention and player welfare.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
  • 3-5 years of experience in sports management, with a focus on baseball or softball programming.
  • Preferred experience playing College Baseball / Softball.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Proven experience in payroll management and business administration.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
  • Knowledge of baseball and softball techniques, rules, and player development.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (preferred).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds when needed (e.g., equipment, supplies).
