About the Role
  • Fabricate prototype low-voltage and high-voltage wire harnesses for development vehicles, test vehicles, benches, and electrical systems
  • Build harnesses from electrical schematics, wiring tables, harness drawings, connector definitions, and engineering instructions
  • Cut, strip, crimp, splice, solder, seal, label, bundle, and protect wiring in accordance with engineering and workmanship requirements
  • Install prototype harnesses and electrical components into development vehicles
  • Perform electrical retrofits and wiring modifications on existing vehicles to support design changes, testing, troubleshooting, and vehicle upgrades
  • Remove and replace terminals, connectors, wiring, protection materials, and electrical components as required
  • Route and secure wiring to meet packaging, durability, serviceability, and safety requirements
  • Perform continuity, resistance, isolation, and point-to-point testing to verify completed harnesses and vehicle modifications
  • Troubleshoot open circuits, short circuits, terminal issues, incorrect pinouts, communication faults, and other vehicle electrical problems
  • Identify issues with drawings, parts, tooling, or installation instructions and provide feedback to engineering
  • Support prototype vehicle builds, engineering development activities, validation testing, and root-cause investigations
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle modifications, harness revisions, deviations, and completed work
  • Work closely with wiring DREs, electrical engineers, vehicle technicians, manufacturing, and suppliers to resolve build and installation issues
  • Maintain harness-build tools, electrical test equipment, terminals, connectors, wire, and prototype materials
  • Follow established electrical-safety procedures, including high-voltage lockout and verification requirements when applicable

Requirements
Required Qualifications & Skill
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or automotive electrical certification preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience building automotive wire harnesses or performing vehicle electrical modifications
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, connector views, and vehicle build instructions
  • Experience with wire cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering, splicing, shielding, braiding, taping, and connector assembly
  • Familiarity with automotive terminals, connectors, seals, wire types, protection materials, and routing hardware
  • Experience using hand-crimp tools, automated wire-processing equipment, multimeters, continuity testers, and other electrical diagnostic equipment
  • Understanding of proper wire routing, circuit protection, grounding, strain relief, abrasion protection, and sealing practices
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to document build issues and communicate required design changes to engineering
  • Experience working safely around high-voltage vehicle systems is preferred
