Wire Harness Fabrication Associate
W2 CONTRACT
Elmendorf, TX (ONSITE)

M-F | 8:30am-5pm
$32/hr

Looking for fabricate and assemble wire harnesses and cable assemblies according to engineering drawings, schematics, and requestor specifications. Measure, cut, strip, crimp, solder, and terminate wires using hand tools and specialized equipment. Routed and bundled wires, installed connectors, labels, heat shrink tubing, and protective sleeving to ensure proper fit and function. Performed continuity, insulation resistance, and quality inspections to verify compliance with industry standards and production requirements.
Position Overview
The Wire Harness Technician is responsible for fabricating, assembling, installing, and inspecting prototype automotive wire harnesses and cable assemblies. This role involves working from electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and technical specifications to build high-quality harnesses for vehicle applications. The technician will perform wire termination, soldering, crimping, testing, troubleshooting, and vehicle-level installation while ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
  • Fabricate and assemble prototype automotive wire harnesses and cable assemblies, including wire cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering, and connector installation.
  • Install wire harnesses, overlays, and related electrical components in vehicles.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and written/verbal work instructions.
  • Perform wire harness inspections and quality checks to ensure compliance with engineering and production requirements.
  • Conduct continuity testing, insulation resistance testing, and other electrical validation activities.
  • Troubleshoot wiring issues and support root-cause analysis activities.
  • Learn and operate wire harness fabrication equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on fabrication equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve technical issues and improve build processes.
  • Support general shop activities and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience fabricating and assembling wire harnesses, cable assemblies, or similar electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret automotive electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience with soldering, crimping, wire termination, and electrical assembly techniques.
  • Basic understanding of electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to lift, move, and handle materials in a manufacturing or laboratory environment.
