Position Summary
The Industrial Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in an active open-pit mining and processing environment. This role requires strong hands-on technical skills, experience with industrial power systems, and a consistent commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with 3-phase industrial power systems, exposure to medium- and high-voltage equipment, and the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues in a demanding, safety-sensitive environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in compliance with NEC, MSHA, and applicable local, state, and federal codes.
  • Diagnose electrical malfunctions using appropriate test equipment and perform corrective repairs efficiently and safely.
  • Work primarily with 3-phase 480V systems, with occasional work on 4,160V and 13,800V electrical systems.
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical and electronic wiring, conduit, controls, and components using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Identify malfunctioning systems and components, determine root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to ensure electrical systems remain compliant and reliable.
  • Coordinate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to support continuous mining and processing activities.
  • Observe and follow all safety regulations and consistently use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Rectifier experience is a plus.

Required Qualifications & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 4 years of electrician experience, preferably in industrial, mining, or heavy manufacturing environments.
  • MSHA certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, drawings, and diagrams.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision electrical testing instruments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office.

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working with rectifiers and medium- to high-voltage systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial electrical codes and standards beyond NEC and MSHA.
  • Ability to perform electrical repairs in remote, rugged, or outdoor environments.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk long distances over rough, uneven terrain and climb ladders and structures.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures.
  • Must wear and properly use required PPE, including hard hat, steel-toed footwear, safety glasses, high-visibility vest, hearing protection, respirator (as required), and protective clothing.
  • Ability to work in environments with potential exposure to dust, fumes, diesel exhaust, solvents, sulphuric acid, and other hazardous materials.
