Join TE Connectivity's innovative Passive Optics organization as a Software Engineer II and help develop the software platforms, automation systems, and data-driven solutions that enable the next generation of optical connectivity products powering AI and hyperscale computing infrastructure. You'll solve complex challenges at the intersection of software, automation, manufacturing, and photonics while creating tools that accelerate product development and scale advanced manufacturing operations.
Please note: operations are currently based at a temporary site in Webster, NY. The team will transition to a permanent Rochester location (near RIT) upon completion.

Job Requirements
Software Development & Automation
• Engineering Software Solutions: Design, develop, and maintain software applications supporting optical product development, manufacturing process development, testing, and automation initiatives.
• Automation Platforms: Develop software for automated assembly systems, machine vision applications, robotics, motion control systems, and data acquisition platforms.
• Data Systems & Analytics: Create applications and dashboards that collect, manage, visualize, and analyze manufacturing, test, and product performance data.
• System Integration: Integrate software with laboratory equipment, industrial automation platforms, databases, vision systems, and enterprise applications.
Product Development & Manufacturing
• Test System Development: Design and implement software solutions for product validation, automated testing, data logging, and performance characterization.
• Manufacturing Software Support: Develop applications that improve process control, equipment efficiency, traceability, and manufacturing quality.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with optical, mechanical, electrical, process development, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet business and technical objectives.
• Documentation: Develop software requirements, architecture documentation, validation protocols, user guides, technical specifications, and support documentation for deployed systems.
What your background should look like
• Education: BS or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience:
  • Senior level : 5-8 years of experience developing software applications, automation solutions, industrial software, or engineering systems.
  • Eng II level:3-5 years of experience developing software applications, automation solutions, industrial software, or engineering systems.

• Programming Skills: Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as Python, C#, C++, Java, or similar.
• Software Development Practices: Experience with version control systems, software testing, debugging, and software lifecycle management.
Core Technical Competencies
• Application Development: Experience developing desktop, web-based, or engineering software applications.
• Automation & Equipment Integration: Knowledge of industrial automation systems, PLCs, machine vision systems, robotics, motion control platforms, or manufacturing equipment integration.
• Data Management: Experience working with databases, SQL, data acquisition systems, data analytics, and reporting tools.
• Software Architecture: Understanding of object-oriented programming, software design principles, API development, and system integration methodologies.
• Test & Validation: Experience developing automated test platforms, validation tools, and software verification methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting manufacturing, process development, or industrial automation environments.
• Familiarity with machine vision, image processing, robotics, or motion control systems.
• Knowledge of fiber optics, optical communications, photonics, or precision manufacturing technologies.
• Experience with cloud-based analytics, AI/ML applications, or Industry 4.0 technologies.

COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience:
  • SR Level 5- 8 years of experience $102,700 -$154,000 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
  • Eng II 3-5 years of experience $82,000- $123,000 (subject to change dependent on physical location)

• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
