Job Description and Profile
The Head of Enterprise Applications will strategically design, plan, manage, and direct all activities related to the architecture, development and integration of enterprise software applications, and third-party solutions to ensure future stability and scalability of our entire technology stack. This role will develop and oversee the application architecture blueprint and will be pivotal in driving architectural vision and strategy for our enterprise applications, ensuring alignment with business goals and technology standards. The systems under your responsibility will be amongst the most critical innovations at Now Optics. They will enable new revenue opportunities for Now Optics, bringing transformative experiences to our customers. Building these systems requires strong technology expertise and a strong sense of enterprise design, state of the art scalability, reliability, use of cloud technologies and data science; someone that has deep understanding and experience with Azure applications and automation. The ideal candidate will have management experience with large and overseas teams. You will own the full life-cycle of technology services and provide management, technical and people leadership in the design, development and quality of these systems.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Defining the overall vision and roadmap for enterprise applications, identifying technology trends, and prioritizing initiatives to support business growth, while reducing redundancy and optimizing the architecture.
  • Develop and manage architectural blueprints/roadmaps for all applications, interconnectivity, and data flows. Develop SOPs to support all technology-related projects and initiatives.
  • Design, develop, customize, configure, and implement enterprise applications that support the company's business strategy, vision, and objectives.
  • Plan, execute, and manage the integration of new applications into existing systems and software throughout the enterprise, ensuring seamless interconnectivity and optimal performance, while proactively mitigating potential gaps and technology issues.
  • Tracking application performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing improvements/upgrades.
  • Develop compliance architecture methods, establish and govern software development life cycle (SDLC) processes, and maintain metrics to measure and improve team performance.
  • Managing the lifecycle of all enterprise applications, including upgrades, replacements, and integrations.
  • Maintaining data security and compliance with industry regulations across all enterprise applications
  • Working closely with stakeholders across different departments to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with analysts, designers, owners, and vendors in the testing and integration of software programs and applications.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to technical teams, ensuring best practices and standards are followed, evaluating, and recommending new technologies to enhance the enterprise application landscape.

Education & Experience
  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related engineering field
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience
  • Leadership record having created results-oriented and energized teams.
  • Experience in modern iterative software development methodology.
  • Experience with globally distributed teams and business partners.
  • Experience in building and maintaining applications that are mission critical for customers.
  • Industry experience in retail, omnichannel commerce, or healthcare/optical services.
  • Experience operating regulated platforms under HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and SOX.
  • Familiarity with EHR/Telehealth standards (HL7, FHIR, DICOM) and clinical workflows.

Skills & Requirements
  • Prior Senior Software leadership roles in product or application development and engineering for high growth companies.
  • Experience with cloud platforms. Can be Azure or GCP or AWS. Azure is preferable.
  • Experience with multiple languages including Java, Python, Net, React or C/C++/C#
  • Ability to dive into details, hands on technologist with strong core computer science fundamentals.
  • Proven leadership of large-scale distributed software teams that have delivered great products on deadline.
  • Proven ability to recruit the best and brightest developers and provide them with a vision and working environment to develop world-class applications while instituting compelling performance measurements that continually drive transparency and improved performance.
  • Excellent communication skills, strong team player, with the ability to work across departments.
