Job Summary:

This position provides overall direction, guidance, definition and facilitation for the development of current and future architecture required to meet agency needs, goals, and strategic direction. The Applications Architect interfaces across all departments, acting as visionary to proactively assist in defining the direction for future projects, conceives strategies and solutions, builds consensus, and executes solutions. This position is involved in all aspects of the project life cycle, from the initial kickoff through the requirements analysis, design, and implementation.

Note: This position requires employee to be in office 3 days a week.

Job Duties:
  • Develops/builds and configures IT solutions to meet business requirements. Integrates solutions with other applications and platforms outside the framework.
  • Documents functions and changes to new or modified modules, and other areas (e.g., error handling, backup/recovery procedures). Ensures all applications are documented according to standards.
  • Leads the development of staff, and plans/performs ongoing routine application maintenance tasks. Develops requirements, methods and procedures for routine maintenance. Develops and administers application-specific standards and patterns such as user interface design, Azure Cloud Services, Application Programing Interface (API), Web services, portal application programming interfaces, XML, and content.
  • Develops the agency's application architectural strategy in alignment with business goals. Defines development guidelines and standards to be utilized in application development and integration. Reviews requirements across multiple applications and develops application models that span applications and domains.
  • Analyzes the current IT application architecture to identify weaknesses and develop opportunities for improvements. Develops methods to integrate systems that interact and extend across organizational and functional lines. Provides design recommendations based on long-term development organization strategy and develops enterprise level application and custom integration solutions, including major enhancements and interfaces, functions and features.
  • Manages an application architecture governance process: develops, communicates and ensures adherence to architecture processes, principles, policies and standards for the enterprise.
  • Other duties as assigned as related to the position.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Bachelor's degree plus 10 or more years of programming and analysis experience.
In- State travel is required. Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver license record check, must maintain acceptable driving record and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12). Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintain valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration. Mileage may be reimbursed, if applicable.
The ability to secure and maintain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and the ability to secure and maintain clearance from the DCS Central Registry.

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver's License Requirements.
