Job description

Forklift/Crane Operator-Overnights

Pitman Schedule: (7PM-7AM)

Salary: $21.00-$25.00

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Forklift/Crane Operator to support the Annealing department. Their job is to lead daily department operations, including correctly piling, and planning material flow in and out of the department. This role will also be responsible for moving material safely with a forklift and/or crane to set up furnaces and coolers appropriate for use. The Forklift/Crane Operator will be responsible for working with their crew members to ensure work is completed safely, meeting quality expectations, as well as meeting productivity demands.

Shift: Pitman Schedule- 12-Hour Shifts

Switches weekly

Shift Hours: (7pm-7am)

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Follow all safety protocols for forklift and crane operations.
  • Complete and log daily equipment inspections.
  • Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to move and stage materials.
  • Support production by emptying scrap tubs and clearing finished products.
  • Assist with marking picklists, aligning orders per machine, and managing scrap hoppers.
  • Lead by example and support team development in crane operations and annealing processes.
  • Identify problems, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Take ownership of mill operations and contribute to team success.
  • Utilize Oracle or similar systems for tracking and documentation.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives using daily transformation tools.
  • Maintain a high attendance rate and demonstrate flexibility in daily assignments.
  • Perform additional duties assigned to support overall facility productivity.
