Job Description

The R&D Analytical Scientist serves as a technical resource for Eurofins Environment Testing America's personnel and clients in their field of expertise.  Researches, develops, and implements new analytical methods and recommends process improvements to existing analyses.  Manages technical projects and conducts evaluation of technologies.  Writes and reviews laboratory SOPs and trains employees on methods and procedures.  Performs sample analysis and final data review, and maintains and troubleshoots laboratory instruments.

The R&D Analytical Scientist include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Assists in solving technical problems in the laboratory including troubleshooting instruments and assisting in developing or modifying methods as needed to meet customer requirements.
  • Assists in performing sample analyses, data write up, and final data review.
  • Assists in maintaining and repairing analytical instruments to reduce downtime.
  • Assists in consulting with clients, regulators, and others regarding technical aspects of analyses.
  • Suggests and implements process improvements to maximize productivity, save costs, and decrease turn-around time.
  • Assists in developing or amending department SOP's.
  • Participates in Eurofins Environment Testing America's best practice process to spread best technical practices and develop Eurofins Environment Testing America Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Leads the implementation and follow-up of the best practices and SOPs in the laboratory.
  • Assists in evaluating and adapting new technologies and methodologies.
  • Assists with technical projects.
  • Prepares reports and recommendations for senior laboratory management.
  • Assists with set up of and conducting training for analyst and technicians in area of expertise.
  • Mentors associates in the laboratory.
  • Assists in the development of health and safety protocols.
  • Consults with Project Managers and sales staff regarding analytical techniques and capabilities.
  • Investigates issues raised by clients, quality assurance, sales, and other departments to find root cause and implement corrective action and proper response.
  • Contributes technical information and evaluation for deciding major new equipment purchases and capital expenditures.
  • Carries out technical and business tasks as assigned by the Business Unit Manager
Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: 

  •  
  • BS or BA in Chemistry or related field, Ph.D perferred but not required. 
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in an analytical laboratory. 
  • 1-2 years of previous supervisory experience 
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
  • Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English.

Position is full-time, non-exempt and must be able to work Monday thru Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
