Job description

Agency:
Critical Mass
Job Function:
Creative
Job Subfunction:
Design
Job Description:
Social moves fast, and the best ideas in the feed don't look like they took long to make, whether they took five minutes or five days. As a Designer (Social), you have a bias towards making things: hands-on, fast, and unafraid to work scrappy and nimbly when the moment calls for it, whether that's a full Premiere edit or a quick turn in CapCut. You bring high design craft to a medium that rewards speed, instinct, and range: motion, video, photography, graphic design, whatever the platform calls for. You're not just keeping up with trends. You're the one spotting the shift before it's obvious, and turning it into something remarkable before anyone else does.
You Will:
Concept social-first ideas, the kind that are genuinely remarkable and platform-native
Create social content across a range of media types, including motion design, short-form video editing, graphic design, photography, and other formats as needed
When appropriate, bring high design craft to fast-turnaround work: strong typography, composition, and visual polish, even under tight timelines
Use generative AI tools (image, video, audio) to accelerate production and explore ideas that would otherwise be out of reach on a social timeline
Apply text-based AI to speed up ideation, captioning, and trend research
Collaborate with creative partners to pitch and sketch out post concepts and get them sold
Stay ahead of trends and formats, identifying what makes contextual sense for each client and platform
Be a vocal, contributing member of the CM Social Team who openly shares ideas and feedback
You Have:
3+ years of experience creating content, in whole or in part, on behalf of brand or media social accounts
Multi-hyphenate capabilities across ideation, graphic design, photography, and video editing
Conceptual range: the ability to generate social-first ideas that are genuinely remarkable, not just on-trend
High design craft, with a strong eye for typography, composition, and visual polish, applied fast
Platform-specific expertise, with a strong understanding of how different platforms work and how to craft ideas that succeed on each
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud and Figma
Motion design skills, with the ability to bring graphics and type to life for social formats
Video editing skills, comfortable in tools like Premiere, Edits, or CapCut
Comfort using generative AI and text-based AI tools as part of your creative process
Boundless creative energy and a collaborative spirit - you don't stop at the first idea, and you keep working with your team until you land on something unique
The ability to deliver on a deadline, every time
Nice-to-Haves:
Hands-on experience with brand social content creation or publishing
Strong presentation abilities
Experience delivering creative in restrictive environments (tight legal restrictions, small creative sandboxes, etc.)
Experience working with influencers & creators (or experience working as one)
An affinity for Instagram and TikTok in particular
What We Offer:
Global maternity and parental leave
Competitive benefits packages
Vacation, compassionate leave, sick/personal days
Access to online services for families and new parents
Early Dismissal Friday's (off at 3:00 PM local time every Friday)
13 affinity groups
Internal learning and development programs
Enterprise-wide employee discounts
Our new hires & employees are the future of our organization, and we want to set you up for long-term success. In an effort to do so, we expect our team to work from an office a minimum of 3 days a week. Chicago: $65,000-$75,000
Omnicom's policy requires employees to work in the office for a minimum of three days a week, unless additional in-office days are directed by their agency or manager.
