Job Description:

The Aviation Life Support Technician Inspector/Maintainer is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, testing, repair, and documentation of aviation survival and safety equipment. This role directly supports aircrew survivability and mission safety by ensuring all life support systems meet regulatory and operational standards. ALSS personnel operate as safety-critical professionals and maintain strict compliance with applicable technical manuals, manufacturer instructions, and agency directives.


Essential Functions:

  • Having ALSS experience with: P-8, 737, or other relevant aircraft experience with common survival gear.
  • Being able to read, interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, T.O specs, and engineering specifications to perform required tasks.
  • Able to assemble close tolerance parts and use common hand tools.
  • Able to be certified to operate self-propelled vehicles such as forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, aircraft support equipment and towing vehicles.
  • Able to climb, including ladders, stairs, and portable stands and navigate these without assistance.
  • Able to work in the following environmental conditions: noise, proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, chemicals, odor, and dust.
  • Ability to complete and pass ordnance physical and a flight line physical.
  • Willingness and ability to work any shift, and overtime as needed. Work schedule can be 7 days a week, up to 20% overtime.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time.


Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
  • Active Secret security clearance.
  • Graduate of Navy PR "A" school or equivalent.
  • Explosives handling certified as per OPNAVINST 8023.24 as required.
  • Minimum 6 months experience with NALCOMIS Optimized Organizational Maintenance Activity (OOMA) and Advanced System Management (ASM) systems.


Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license.
  • Working knowledge of Periodic Maintenance Information Cards / Maintenance Requirement Cards.
  • Experience with the Navy NALCOMIS / OOMA.
  • Experience in managing Egress, NOMP / AWCAP, AAS, ABO and any other related US Navy Aviation Environmental programs.
  • APU and/or Ground turn qualified is a plus.
  • Effective communicator and possess strong motivational skills.
  • Demonstrate creative problem-solving capabilities.


In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $82,500 - $153,000. The  salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, Cleveland Ohio, and Vermont is $71,500 - 132,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
