Job description

JMCC is a community-based nonprofit human service agency incorporated in 1976. Our mission is to provide educational, cultural, social, recreational, and community services to moderate- and low-income residents of Allston/Brighton, ranging in age from 5 years old to older adulthood.
JMCC serves thousands of residents from the Allston/Brighton community and the Greater Boston Area each year. Programs provided at JMCC include:
- School-age programs
- Afterschool programs (ages 5-12)
- Summer school-age programs (ages 5-12)
- Recreation programs
- Adult education (ESOL and GED)
- Teen programs
- Adult enrichment and community resources
- Youth outreach
-Teen programming
- Recreation/enrichment programming
Our core philosophy is rooted in the belief that solutions and responsibilities lie with the people who benefit from and are committed to neighborhood preservation, economic self-sufficiency, and revitalization. JMCC serves over 3,000 low- to moderate-income participants annually.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing Office Operations: Overseeing daily office activities, ensuring smooth operations, and coordinating schedules for meetings, appointments, and events.
- Handling Correspondence: Drafting, reviewing, and responding to emails, phone calls, and other communications on behalf of executives or team members.
- Data Entry and Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records, filing systems, and databases, ensuring all documents are organized and easily accessible.
- Scheduling and Calendar Management: Coordinating and managing calendars for executives or teams, scheduling meetings, and making travel arrangements.
- Supporting Staff and Teams: Providing administrative support to various departments, assisting with projects, and ensuring team members have the resources they need to perform effectively.
- Strong Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines. The role often requires juggling competing priorities, so strong time management skills are essential.
- Proficiency in Office Software: Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workspace, and possibly project management software (such as Asana or Trello). The ability to quickly learn new software is also valuable.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with team members, clients, and external stakeholders. This includes drafting professional emails, memos, and handling phone calls.
- Attention to Detail: Being meticulous with tasks like data entry, document management, and scheduling to avoid errors and ensure efficiency.
- Flexibility and Adaptability: The ability to adjust to changing tasks, priorities, and work environments. Some administrative roles may involve unexpected demands or require working under pressure.
