Location: Prineville, OR, US

What This Role Looks Like:

Under the supervision of the Plant Supervisor, this position supports the yard in all areas of loading/unloading in the production area; and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Loads product onto customer vehicles and trailers (all sizes), per management instruction and/or sales orders generated by customer service counter personnel.
  • Professionally and pleasantly instruct and/or guide truck drivers, customers when/as necessary.
  • Unload, stage and/or transport material to their proper storage location throughout the facility.
  • Sort, pack, stack and wrap products for transport or storage when/as required.
  • Weigh materials when necessary to ensure loads are safe and legal per regulatory standards.
  • Monitor and maintain yard inventory in an orderly and safe manner.
  • Participates in inventory count; two Saturdays a year
  • Maintain work areas according to company specifications for cleanliness and safety.
  • Perform clean-up work throughout the plant as assigned by the Yard Superintendent.
  • Perform daily routine pre-inspections of the forklift; reports problems or potential repair issues to the Yard Superintendent.
  • Report any damages (product, customer transport, forklift) immediately to management.
  • Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous conditions are reported to the Plant Superintendent and/or Plant EHS Coordinator and are corrected.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one (1) year truck loading experience required
  • On-the-job training experience is required to be able to perform duties and become forklift certified by Basalite
  • Requires good communication skills and ability to listen and follow directions
  • Requires basic reading, writing and math skills
  • Requires a working knowledge of plant operating and inventory systems.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and load/unload trucks, trailers and other vehicles (including ramps) efficiently, quickly and safely in all kinds of weather.
  • Regular attendance is required.

Physical Demands:

Standing, walking, sitting, talking/listening, climbing (up-and-down from a forklift), stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching with hands and arms. Lifting frequently 25-75 lbs.; and 75-100 pounds occasionally.

Work Environment:

Plant environment with loud noise, moving machinery, dusty, dirty. Outdoor weather conditions. Extreme temperatures. Must wear mandatory and/or other appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
