The Market Development Manager, AI Scientific Platform will support the launch, adoption, and engagement strategy for a new AI-enabled workspace designed to help academic and translational lab scientists design experiments, refine protocols, identify relevant publications, and access trusted Thermo Fisher Scientific product and protocol knowledge.

This role will own the marketing workstream for the platform, including messaging, launch planning, campaign execution, customer engagement, and adoption programs. The successful candidate will work closely with senior marketing leadership and partner across product, IT, legal, commercial, digital, business unit, and agency teams. This is a unique opportunity for a life sciences marketer with strong scientific fluency to help bring a new AI-enabled customer experience from alpha testing through launch and ongoing adoption.

Location:

This is an onsite role based in one of the following locations: Carlsbad, CA; Waltham, MA; Madison, WI; Rockford, IL; Eugene, OR; Fort Collins, CO; Grand Island, NY; or Frederick, MD.  Please note that relocation assistance is not provided for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the marketing workstream for a pre-launch AI-enabled scientific platform, including marketing planning, execution, and performance tracking.
  • Support go-to-market planning with senior marketing leadership and cross-functional partners across product, IT, legal, commercial, digital, business units, and agencies.
  • Develop positioning, messaging, value propositions, and audience-specific narratives for academic and translational lab scientists.
  • Create and execute marketing programs that drive awareness, registered users, active users, platform engagement, and repeat usage.
  • Translate scientific workflows across Molecular Biology, Protein & Cellular Analysis, and Cell Biology into compelling customer-facing messaging, campaign concepts, and educational content.
  • Serve as a scientific marketing partner by assessing platform use cases, reviewing customer relevance of platform outputs, and engaging subject matter experts when deeper validation is needed.
  • Contribute to knowledgebase strategy by helping identify, prioritize, and organize relevant scientific, product, protocol, publication, and application content.
  • Use platform analytics, customer insights, and marketing performance data to optimize adoption programs and identify future growth opportunities, including growth marketing, demand generation, and customer engagement.

Keys to Success:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, life sciences, marketing, business administration, or a related discipline.

Experience

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in life sciences marketing, market development, product marketing, digital marketing, scientific communications, portfolio marketing, or a related role; or 6+ years of relevant experience with an advanced degree.
  • Strong scientific fluency, ideally anchored in Molecular Biology, Protein & Cellular Analysis, Cell Biology, translational research, or a related life sciences field.
  • Experience developing and executing marketing strategies, campaigns, launch plans, or customer engagement programs in life sciences, biotechnology, scientific products, digital platforms, informatics, e-commerce, or related markets.
  • Ability to translate academic and translational research workflows, protocols, and technical content into clear customer messaging, campaign assets, and sales enablement tools.
  • Experience collaborating across matrixed organizations with marketing, product management, IT, legal, commercial, digital, business unit, and agency stakeholders.
  • Ability to use marketing performance data, customer insights, and digital engagement metrics to optimize programs and inform growth opportunities.
  • Strong project management, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.

Preferred

  • Advanced degree in a life science discipline or equivalent scientific experience.
  • Experience in molecular biology, cell biology, protein biology, antibodies, imaging, flow cytometry, cell and gene therapy, synthetic biology, neuroscience, oncology, immunology, or related research areas.
  • Experience supporting launch, adoption, lifecycle marketing, or engagement programs for AI-enabled products, digital customer experiences, scientific software, customer portals, bioinformatics tools, or knowledge management solutions.
  • Familiarity with claims development, scientific content governance, legal review, terms and conditions, responsible AI considerations, or commercial enablement.
  • Experience working in a global organization with regional marketing and commercial teams.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $103,100.00–$120,300.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
