Opportunity Summary

Join a well-funded, seed-stage aerospace and defense company entering a period of rapid growth as it expands engineering, manufacturing, and laboratory operations. Backed by strong investment and active government development programs, the team is building advanced hardware systems that require highly secure, well-maintained, and efficient facilities to support day-to-day execution. As the Facilities Manager, you will own the operation and maintenance of the company's facilities while ensuring employees, laboratories, and manufacturing spaces remain safe, organized, and fully operational. This is a highly visible role working directly with executive leadership to coordinate vendors, manage infrastructure projects, oversee security requirements, and support continued expansion. As the organization grows, this position offers the opportunity to develop into a multi-site facilities leadership role.

About Us

We are a venture-backed aerospace and defense company developing advanced technologies for government and commercial applications. With active customer programs, growing engineering teams, and expanding manufacturing capabilities, we are investing in the infrastructure needed to support long-term growth. Our team values ownership, collaboration, and practical problem-solving as we scale both our technology and operations.

Job Duties

  • Manage the daily operation, maintenance, and functionality of office, laboratory, and manufacturing facilities.
  • Coordinate third-party vendors supporting HVAC, electrical, plumbing, janitorial services, painting, flooring, landscaping, and general building maintenance.
  • Schedule, monitor, and verify completion of preventative maintenance activities across building systems and utilities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for facility-related issues during normal business operations.
  • Support laboratory and production environments by coordinating cleaning schedules, equipment moves, workspace readiness, and facility access.
  • Oversee building security, access credentials, keys, and vendor entry while maintaining compliance with government security requirements.
  • Maintain facility documentation including service records, warranties, maintenance logs, asset inventories, and contractor information.
  • Coordinate office moves, workspace planning, and facility reconfigurations to support organizational growth.
  • Partner with executive leadership on facility improvement projects, equipment installations, and space expansion initiatives.
  • Manage permitting activities and coordinate with local agencies when facility modifications or construction projects are required.
  • Monitor waste management, recycling programs, facility supplies, and overall building cleanliness.
  • Assist with additional operational projects and facility initiatives as business needs evolve.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in facilities management, building operations, or a related field.
  • Experience managing outside contractors and facility service providers.
  • Working knowledge of commercial building infrastructure including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems.
  • Experience supporting laboratory, manufacturing, industrial, or technical work environments.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Comfortable working on-site Monday through Friday.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and regularly walk throughout multiple facility spaces.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, or research and development organizations.
  • Familiarity with multi-tenant or multi-building facility operations.
  • Experience using facilities management or work order tracking software.
  • Knowledge of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) practices.
  • Familiarity with ITAR or other regulated operating environments.
  • Experience coordinating facility permitting and construction projects.

Why Join Us

  • Equity participation.
  • Comprehensive medical and dental coverage.
