Job Summary
We are seeking a strategic and results driven Visual Merchandising Specialist to join our corporate Visual Merchandising & Space Planning team. This role is foundational to driving our in store experience by developing and owning visual merchandising strategies to support our product assortment, marketing initiatives and enhance consumer engagement.
As a key member of the team, you will own the creation of detailed visual guidelines for our store fleet, ensuring clear and concise direction for all locations to execute to. A focus of this position is owning the day-to-day operations of our corporate D2C Lab. You will be responsible for the physical setup and breakdown of seasonal floorsets, sample check-ins, and overall lab organization, ensuring a highly organized environment for executive reviews. The ideal candidate possesses a vast knowledge of the retail landscape, a consumer-first mindset, and the ability to work independently to support brand initiatives.
As Carhartt continues to expand and open new retail locations, this position will also partner closely with the store strategy team, requiring a strong technical understanding of floorplans to own the calculation of fixture capacity is accurately assessed and fixture philosophy aligns with the store tiering structure.

Associate Responsibilities
  • Own D2C Lab execution to support walkthroughs with leadership team for major floorset sign off.
  • Track inventory and supplies in accordance with associated budgets. Implements vendor relations to support samples for D2C Lab.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of merchandising initiatives and propose improvements based on business needs and retail trends.
  • Develop production of visual merchandising guides for the store fleet to support seasonal floor sets, product launches, and promotional campaigns.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects with tight deadlines, ensuring timely delivery and effective prioritization of tasks.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., Planning, Allocation, Merchandising, Store Operations, Marketing) to ensure cohesive execution of in-store presentations and brand strategies.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and industry best practices to continually evolve our visual merchandising and space planning strategies.

Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Visual Merchandising, Design, Marketing, or related field, or equivalent years of experience.

Required Skills & Experience
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in visual merchandising, space planning, and store development.
  • Proven success leading enterprise visual merchandising initiatives across multi-store retail environments.
  • Influence business decisions by providing expertise in visual merchandising, store experience, and retail space optimization.
  • Lead cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Mentor and support field teams in execution excellence and best practices.
  • Self-starter with a positive, proactive attitude and strong sense of ownership.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
