Job description

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Dickson is accepting applications for a full-time Associate Instructor in the Evening Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Technology program at the Clarksville Campus. This is a grant-funded position.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Technical Diploma in instructional area or equivalent higher education training with credentials in related field. Associate Degree preferred. A comparable combination of education and directly related work experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the drafting and/or technical drawing field within the last five (5) years.
  • Must be proficient with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, Inventor, Additive Manufacturing layout programs, Microsoft Office applications, etc.
  • Must possess a high level of knowledge of drafting, technical drawing standards and additive manufacturing.
  • Experience using 3D printers.
  • Prior teaching experience or evidence of ability to teach students a plus.

SKILLS

  • Must possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and to interact with high school and adult students.
  • Must show evidence of good character, mature attitude, and stable personality.
  • Must be willing to remain current in the instructional field and maintain personal certifications and program accreditation(s).
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with students, faculty, staff, the general public and business/industry representatives.
  • Must be willing and able to perform administrative duties in a timely manner.

GENERAL DUTIES:  The Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Associate Instructor is responsible for providing individualized theory and hands-on instruction to adult and high school students to prepare them for employment in the field. Areas of instruction include, but are not limited to: drawing techniques, CAD and drafting, technical drawing, additive manufacturing, civil design, mechanical design, architectural design, structural design, solid modeling, etc. The Associate Instructor must monitor, grade and evaluate individual student progress; maintain student records in the college’s student records management software; maintain appropriate documentation; submit timely reports; assist in recruiting new students, and assist with graduate placement. This position must also maintain good public relations with business and industry; maintain an active advisory committee; cooperate with outside agencies; and supervise and follow-up on students participating in cooperative education. This position is full-time and reports to the Clarksville Campus Director. Scheduled work hours are Monday through Friday, 1:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Scheduled class hours are Monday through Friday, 2:45 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. All instruction is delivered in-person; this is not a remote work position. Anticipated start date July 2026 with classes beginning September 2026.

SALARY:  $50,894-$61,074 annually ($26.10-$31.32 per hour). Commensurate with Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology salary guidelines and directly related experience.
