Job description

Position Summary

The Art Teacher provides engaging instruction in visual arts through the lens of a biblical worldview. The teacher equips students to develop artistic skill, creative expression, visual discernment, craftsmanship, and appreciation for beauty as a reflection of God’s creative design. The teacher also helps students understand art history, evaluate visual culture with wisdom, and use their God-given gifts with excellence and humility. This position could be either part-time or full-time, depending on the candidate's availability and preference.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver standards-aligned art lessons rooted in a Christian worldview.
  • Teach foundational art skills, techniques, terminology, art history, and creative expression.
  • Guide students in creating original work with attention to craftsmanship, creativity, and thoughtful reflection.
  • Help students evaluate art, media, and visual culture with discernment and biblical wisdom.
  • Maintain accurate grades and communicate progress with families.
  • Organize, maintain, and safely manage art supplies, materials, equipment, and classroom procedures.
  • Display student artwork in ways that celebrate growth, creativity, and excellence.
  • Contribute to school culture through mentoring, events, and collaboration.
  • Model a life consistent with biblical standards in both personal conduct and professional relationships.


Qualifications

  • A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and active involvement in a local evangelical church.
  • Agreement with Shekinah Christian School’s statement of faith and commitment to Christian education.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, Visual Arts, or related field.
  • Current Ohio teaching license and or ACSI certification, or willingness to obtain appropriate credentials.
  • Demonstrated classroom management skills and ability to build strong relationships with students and families.
  • Ability to connect artistic content, creativity, beauty, and visual culture to biblical truth.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
