Job description

Position: Accounting & Finance Manager

Location: Phoenix, AZ (North Phoenix)

Compensation: $80,000–$110,000 Salary, DOE

Work Type: Onsite (future flexibility as established)

The Kostelic Agency is conducting a search for an Accounting & Finance Manager to join a growing, privately held organization headquartered in North Phoenix.

This is a newly created, highly visible opportunity reporting directly to ownership, created as part of a long-term succession plan. After years of personally overseeing many of the company's accounting and financial responsibilities, ownership is looking to bring in an accounting professional who can elevate the department, modernize processes, and become a trusted business partner as the organization continues to grow.

The company has experienced consistent growth for many years and today operates two complementary businesses, including a rapidly expanding administration division supporting the growing gig economy. Combined, the organization is projected to generate approximately $25 million in revenue during 2026 while continuing to invest in technology, automation, and scalable infrastructure.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys improving processes, partnering directly with leadership, wearing multiple hats, and helping build a stronger accounting function within an entrepreneurial organization.

Scope & Impact

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and management reporting.
  • Coordinate annual audit activities while serving as the primary liaison with the external audit firm.
  • Improve accounting processes, internal controls, and operational efficiencies.
  • Help modernize the accounting function through automation and technology initiatives.
  • Partner closely with ownership and executive leadership on financial strategy and business decisions.
  • Support and mentor an established accounting team while serving as the department's technical accounting resource.
  • Assist with the company's transition toward QuickBooks and future accounting system enhancements.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Approximately 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and month-end close.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
  • Experience coordinating external audits.
  • Process improvement and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • QuickBooks experience is highly desirable.

The Ideal Leader

This organization is looking for someone who enjoys building—not simply maintaining.

The ideal candidate is naturally curious, enjoys identifying opportunities for improvement, and takes ownership of problems before they're asked. Success in this role will come from combining strong technical accounting skills with a collaborative, hands-on approach and the ability to partner closely with ownership during an exciting period of growth and succession planning.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Newly created position with significant visibility and direct exposure to ownership.
  • Long-established, privately held organization with more than 60 years of history.
  • Stable company experiencing consistent organic growth.
  • Opportunity to help modernize the accounting department and implement lasting process improvements.
  • Established bookkeeping support already in place, allowing this role to focus on higher-level accounting responsibilities.
  • Entrepreneurial, team-oriented culture with accessible leadership.
  • Opportunity to make a meaningful impact while helping position the organization for its next generation of leadership.
