SummaryCatholic Charities of Acadiana is seeking a Shelter Direct Care Lead I to provide leadership and oversight within our shelter operations. This role ensures the safety, dignity, and well-being of shelter guests while supporting direct care staff and maintaining smooth facility operations. The Shelter Direct Care Lead I is a vital part of our mission to care for the sacred gift of all human life, especially the most vulnerable. At Catholic Charities of Acadiana, we are committed to serving the most vulnerable in our community. As Shelter Direct Care Lead I, you will play a hands-on role in creating a safe, compassionate, and respectful environment for all who seek shelter.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and support direct care staff during shifts, ensuring adherence to shelter policies and protocols.Monitor shelter operations, including safety, security, and cleanliness standards.Conduct and document facility checks every 30 minutes to ensure guest safety.Oversee guest movement, curfew, and meal distribution processes.Manage incident reporting, logbook documentation, and communication with supervisors.Respond promptly to emergencies and coordinate freeze-plan activations when necessary.Oversee medication logs, storage of sensitive items, and compliance with safety protocols.Provide direction to staff in crisis prevention, de-escalation, and conflict resolution.Maintain a clean and welcoming shelter environment, stepping in to perform tasks as needed.Report maintenance needs and ensure housekeeping and supply organization are completed.Job QualificationsExperience working or volunteering in a shelter or social service setting preferred.Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.Demonstrated ability to remain calm in high-stress or emergency situations.Commitment to treating all individuals with empathy, dignity, and without bias or judgment.Willingness to perform cleaning and support tasks as needed.Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.Job SpecificationsMedium: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. 100% of the time.Job Type: Full-time; Shift: 12:00 am - 8:00 am Saturday-WednesdayBenefits:Dental insuranceFlexible spending accountHealth insuranceLife insuranceRetirement planVision insurance
