Job description

Summary

Catholic Charities of Acadiana is seeking a compassionate, organized, and mission-driven Tier 1 Case Manager to help individuals and families navigate financial crises and avoid homelessness. This role is ideal for someone who wants to make a meaningful impact through direct service while building a strong foundation in case management and social services. As a Tier 1 Case Manager, you will provide trauma-informed, strengths-based support to individuals experiencing financial instability or housing risk. Your work will focus on emergency financial assistance, homelessness prevention, diversion, and short-term stabilization-helping clients resolve immediate crises and connect with the resources they need to move forward. This is a brief, stabilization-focused role that plays a critical part in helping clients maintain or secure safe housing and avoid deeper levels of crisis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to begin or grow a career in social services while making a meaningful impact in the Acadiana community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, review, and process emergency financial assistance requests, including determining eligibility and required documentation
  • Meet with clients to assess needs, identify strengths and barriers, and determine appropriate assistance and service pathways
  • Provide brief, stabilization-focused case management and develop short-term housing stabilization plans
  • Support homelessness prevention and diversion by identifying immediate housing options and natural supports
  • Assist clients with accessing identification, documentation, transportation, public benefits, and essential services
  • Connect clients to community resources, including behavioral health, employment, and supportive services
  • Refer clients to higher levels of care or specialized case management when appropriate
  • Maintain accurate, timely electronic documentation and track services, referrals, and outcomes
  • Coordinate with internal programs and external partners to ensure effective and client-centered service delivery
  • Utilize trauma-informed and de-escalation strategies to support client safety and stability
  • Uphold confidentiality, ethical standards, and professional boundaries
  • Participate in trainings, supervision, and team meetings, and maintain a professional and organized work environment

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, or a related field preferred (or equivalent relevant experience as approved by supervisor).
  • Experience in social services, homelessness services, or crisis environments preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport, communicate effectively, and maintain professionalism.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed care and harm reduction principles preferred.
  • Strong organizational, timeโ€‘management, and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic documentation systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of local community resources, public assistance programs, and housing systems

Job Specifications

  • Heavy: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
