Job description

Job Summary: The responsibilities of a Service Technician at Joe Lunghamer Chevrolet include diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing customer vehicles. State of Michigan Repair License are required by law.  Any ASE Certifications are a bonus and highly regarded! No General Motors experience is required but a benefit.  

-New $30 million Dealership being built on North Telegraph (M24)!!! Breaking ground in August of 2026.  

-The Joe Lunghamer Chevrolet Service Department has not ran out of carry over work for 2+ years!!!

Service Technician Compensation and Benefits:

  • Competitive Pay ($40-70 an hour flat rate pay with guarantee!)
  • Flexible Working Hours (Service Department is Open 8:00am to 5:00pm for Technicians. NO SATURDAYS!!!

  • Technician Year End Bonus (paid in December based on total gross)

Service Technician Responsibilities:

  • Perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership
  • Test drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using diagnostic tools and special service equipment
  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle automotive systems
  • Communicate directly with the Service Advisor so that customers can be informed if any additional service is needed
  • Provide estimates of time needed for additional repairs
  • Execute repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications

Service Technician Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of experience as an auto technician
  • Knowledge in all aspects of automotive repair and maintenance
  • Fast, eager learner and team player
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Computer skills and willingness to learn new problems
  • Ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment
  • Clean driving record & valid driver’s license
