JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Radiology Manager, the CT Technologist will perform CT/ Radiological testing and treatment in accordance with TJC, federal, state, and local guidelines, organizational and departmental policies, and procedures. Communicates with medical staff, other departments, and outside agencies while maintaining confidentiality. The position requires self-motivation, creativity, and capabilities to function in a semi-autonomous role within a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
  1. Ensures adherence to proper infection control, OSHA and safety standards.
  2. Comply with established safety precautions at all times.
  3. Participate in discharge planning, development and implementation of patient care plans, patient assessments etc., as necessary.
  4. Interview patients or family members as necessary.
  5. Perform administrative requirements, as directed, such as completing necessary forms, reports, and data input, filing, and faxing.
  6. Ensure safety and comfort of patients while going to and from CT and Radiology Department.
  7. Coordinate CT and radiology exams with other departments.
  8. Perform CT exams on patient's as necessary.
  9. Brief patient or family of procedures involved in CT exams and prepare necessary equipment.
  10. Maintain a current file of patients treated on an in-patient/out-patient basis.
  11. Act as receptionist to patients for the CT and Radiology Department.
  12. Maintain treatment records, patient files, and progress notes, as required.
  13. Recommend equipment and supply needs to the Radiology Manager.
  14. Ensures that the Business Office receives charges for radiology exams rendered to patients.
  15. Ensures that the department is maintained in a clean and safe manner for patient comfort and convenience.
  16. Reassures patient before and during CT or Radiology exams.
  17. Prepares the patient for exam by dress/position and administer radiology exam in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  18. Produce CT and radiographs from positioning patient to developing films by automatic processing and/or CR or Digital.
  19. Administers oral, rectal and IV contrast as ordered.
  20. Coordinates with other facilities to retrieve or send radiographs or reports.
  21. Assists in the distribution of transcribed radiology reports.
  22. Act as a preceptor for new team members.
  23. Participates in patient education, including family members when appropriate.
  24. Participates in continuing education.
  25. Perform other duties as assigned, needed, or required.

Requirements
Minimum Level of Education: Education level equivalent to completion high school, and completion of an accredited radiological technology program.
Formal Training: Completion of Accredited Radiological Technology Program.
Licensure, Certification, Registration: Must have and maintain a current BLS CPR and current unencumbered membership with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, and be able to satisfy State of Georgia, TJC, and Federal Requirements, or the equivalent thereof. As of Jan, 1 2008 must be CT registered or supervised by a registered CT technologist.
Work Experience: Six months to one year experience in healthcare CAT scan and radiology is preferred.

Calculator, personal computer, telephone, facsimile machine, paper shredder, copier, printer, standard radiology, and CT scanner.
