Summary
This position is with the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) San Francisco Region. It is in the Portland Area Office in Portland, OR.
  • The selectee will be expected to report to the office; this is not a virtual position.
  • This position is outside the bargaining unit.
  • A writing sample may be required at the time of interview.

Major Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Researches and recommends workable solutions and management actions that are based on sound management principles and are achievable in relation to agency policy and regulations.
  • Prepares directives, memoranda, policy statements, and other written guidelines and recommendations for review by management.
  • Provides administrative support to the Area Office, in the absence of administrative support and/or clerical staff, as needed.
  • Analyzes management information requirements to develop program or administrative reporting systems including the systems specifications, data gathering and analytical techniques, and systems evaluation methodology, as needed.
  • Identifies and reviews data required for use in the management and direction of programs.
  • Incumbent may assist with planning, coordinating, and developing budget proposals for the agency.

Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
To qualify for the GS-09: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-07. Qualifying specialized experience for the GS-09 includes: Maintaining and tracking office budget, performing research, gathering data, preparing reports, presenting briefings or analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of program operations.

Education: To qualify based on education applicants must have a master's or equivalent graduate degree; or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related.
