Job description


Job Summary:
The Facility Service Group specializes in rapid-turnaround commercial and industrial projects. The Service Sales Engineer manages the full lifecycle of these fast-paced assignments: leading conceptual design, estimating, internal scheduling, and end-to-end execution with a "customer-first" approach.
In addition to driving growth with an assigned portfolio of established client leads, this role is actively expected to prospect and secure new accounts to achieve sales targets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Identify, negotiate, and close profitable repair service contracts for commercial and industrial facility systems to consistently meet and exceed sales quotas.
  • Generate new business through active prospecting, lead tracking, and prompt follow-up on referrals.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales proposals that demonstrate value to both prospective and existing clients.
  • Build strategic, long-term partnerships with clients by anticipating their needs and acting as a trusted decision-maker on key accounts.
  • Manage end-to-end project lifecycles from inception to completion, ensuring projects stay on schedule, within scope, and aligned with quality standards.
  • Collaborate with internal engineers to review technical drawings and align scope of work with project specifications.
  • Direct and coordinate with field personnel, internal office teams, and clients across all project phases to ensure seamless execution.
  • Evaluate and review contracts to ensure compliance, mitigate risks, and maintain expected profit margins.
  • Proactively troubleshoot project or client issues, providing expert advice and timely solutions to maintain high satisfaction levels.
  • Monitor industry trends and market conditions to inform management of emerging opportunities and perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements (Work Experience, Skills, Licenses, etc.):
  • Applied expertise in plumbing systems alongside a comprehensive understanding of service sales strategies.
  • Proven ability to manage a diverse portfolio of concurrent projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated track record of prospecting, negotiating, and closing new customer accounts.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels, including clients, field staff, and executive leadership.
  • Strong written, verbal, and analytical problem-solving abilities.
  • Capability to thrive both independently as an individual contributor and as a collaborative team member.
  • Flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and expanding responsibilities.
  • Strong time-management skills with a consistent record of setting ambitious goals and meeting strict deadlines.

Education and Experience:
Required:
  • A bachelor's degree in Business, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 4-7 years' experience in technical sales, field service engineering, sales engineering, and/or technical support.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and auto liability insurance.

Travel Requirements:
Travel required 10-25% of the time to other office locations and job sites.
Hours:
This is an exempt position. Workdays are scheduled from Monday through Friday. Typically, work hours begin and end between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm as scheduled with the position's supervisor. Work outside of regular hours may occasionally be necessary to meet business needs.
