This position is a non-federal role funded through an existing agreement between NRCS and NEW Solutions. The enrollee will provide direct support to farmers and landowners, enabling the implementation of conservation practices on the ground. This role contributes to NRCS's mission by enhancing capacity in field offices and ensuring timely assistance to producers. It is designed to free up NRCS staff for emergency and high-priority responses, not to replace federal staff.

This role helps ensure continued progress on conservation planning, practice implementation, and technical assistance, especially in high-demand or disaster-affected areas. It aligns with the Administration's priorities for farmer-first, field-facing, and partner-enabled capacity expansion.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in Engineering, Construction, Survey, Building Maintenance OR AA Degree in Engineering or colosely related.

Duties:

This role will work 100% on site at the NRCS State office located at Lincoln Mall, Suite 160, Lincoln NE 68508 and conducts soil mechanics testing to support the planning, design, and installation of Watershed and Farm Bill projects for NRCS State and Field Offices in further assistance to landowners and sponsors.

  • Support landowners and Sponsors by conducting soil mechanics tests for index properties. Tests will generally include gradation analysis, Atterberg limits, fine specific gravity, and Standard Proctor density.   80%
  • Work with staff Geotechnical Engineers to analyze and review test results for interpolation and accuracy.   10%
  • Provide soil mechanics testing to State NRCS employees in the laboratory.   10%
