Job description

Job Summary
Are you passionate about empowering others and making a real difference in your community? As a Direct Support Professional, you’ll play a vital role in enhancing the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities—both at home and in the community. You’ll provide person-centered care, encourage independence, and ensure safety and dignity in every interaction.

Duties

  • Deliver hands-on support with daily living activities, personal care, and mobility

  • Foster independence and community involvement for individuals with disabilities

  • Implement and adapt individualized care plans and behavioral strategies (BSP)

  • Ensure a safe, respectful environment that protects individual rights and well-being

  • Support individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other diverse needs

  • Maintain strict confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA standards

  • Provide transportation and accompany individuals to medical, therapy, and community appointments

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of behavioral support plans (BSPs) and home care practices

  • Ability to assist individuals with mobility and personal care needs

  • Proficient in goal tracking and implementing individualized support strategies

  • Solid understanding of individual rights, person-centered advocacy, and HIPAA compliance

  • Compassionate, reliable, and adaptable with excellent interpersonal skills

Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and access to your own reliable transportation.

  • Prior experience as a DSP

  • Client prefers male staff

  • Must have own vehicle that is either all-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive.

  • Must be able to drive up a mountain in the winter.
