What is a makeup model?

Makeup models are individuals who showcase makeup products and techniques, either for professional photo shoots, beauty campaigns, live demonstrations, or educational purposes. They work with makeup artists to display different looks, highlight new products, or demonstrate application methods. Makeup models may be featured in advertisements, magazines, online tutorials, or live events. Their primary role is to present the makeup attractively and help potential customers visualize how products look when applied.

What can I expect during a typical makeup modeling assignment?

During a typical makeup modeling assignment, you will collaborate closely with makeup artists, photographers, and sometimes hairstylists to showcase specific makeup looks or products. Assignments often involve sitting for extended periods while artists apply makeup, followed by photo or video sessions under professional lighting. Flexibility is important, as you may need to adapt to different creative directions or looks throughout the shoot. Clear communication and the ability to take direction well are highly valued, and maintaining healthy skin is essential for success in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a makeup model, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Makeup Model, you need well-maintained skin, versatile facial features, and the ability to follow makeup artists' direction, often with prior modeling experience or a professional portfolio. Familiarity with standard modeling poses, lighting setups, and sometimes experience with beauty industry booking platforms is beneficial. Confidence, patience, and strong communication skills help makeup models work effectively with photographers, artists, and clients. These attributes ensure that models can present makeup looks optimally, adapt to creative direction, and contribute to successful beauty campaigns.

Both roles are essential in the beauty and fashion industry but serve different purposes.

How much do makeup models get paid?

Makeup models typically earn between $50 and $200 per hour, depending on experience, location, and the scope of the project. Rates can vary for freelance work versus agency assignments, and some models may receive additional compensation such as product samples or portfolio building opportunities.

Job description

Why Grant Thornton | Stax Transactions

  • Work directly with leading private equity firms, growth investors, and Fortune 500 executives on high-stakes strategic and transaction decisions.
  • Lead high-impact engagements with real ownership
  • Experience the best of both worlds: the entrepreneurial culture and agility of a boutique consulting firm combined with the scale, reach, and platform of Grant Thornton.
  • Gain broad exposure across industries, transaction types, and growth challenges in a model designed to accelerate commercial judgment and leadership development.
  • Operate in lean, collaborative teams where senior leaders are accessible, mentorship is real, and contributions are visible.
  • Help build a rapidly growing platform post-acquisition, with opportunities to shape capabilities, develop new offerings, and contribute to firm-wide growth initiatives.
  • Deliver meaningful client impact without the traditional road-warrior consulting lifestyle through a more sustainable, low-travel operating model.
  • Join a high-performance culture that values intellectual curiosity, initiative, collaboration, and merit-based advancement.

As a Commercial Due Diligence Consultant, you’ll focus on buyside and sellside transaction engagements, supporting corporate clients and private equity investors as they evaluate growth opportunities, revenue sustainability, and market risk. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals across Grant Thornton | Stax Transactions to deliver clear, datadriven insights throughout the transaction lifecycle.

From day one, you’ll be empowered to make an impact—helping clients make confident investment decisions while continuing to build your leadership and advisory skillset.

Your DaytoDay may include:

  • Support commercial due diligence engagements for corporate and privateequitybacked transactions
  • Analyze markets, customers, competitors, pricing, and gotomarket strategies to assess commercial risk and opportunity
  • Conduct market sizing, growth forecasting, customer segmentation, and demand analyses
  • Prepare clear, concise, and investmentcommitteeready findings summarizing key risks and value drivers
  • Draft diligence reports, executive summaries, and presentation materials
  • Collaborate with Financial Due Diligence, Value Creation, IT, and Human Capital teams to deliver integrated transaction insights
  • Other duties as assigned

You have the following technical skills, qualifications, and abilities:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Economics, Finance, Strategy, or a related field
  • Typically, 2–4+ years of experience in commercial due diligence, strategy consulting, transaction advisory, or private equityrelated roles
  • Experience supporting M&A or private equity transactions
  • Strong analytical skills across market sizing, customer analysis, and competitive dynamics
  • Ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights
  • Excellent written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fastpaced, transactionoriented environment

Preferred

  • Experience working directly with private equity clients
  • Consulting or professional services background
  • MBA or other advanced degree

Locations:

  • Chicago, Boston, and NYC.
  • Consistent with the firm’s hybrid work model, this position requires in-person attendance three days per week at a firm office or client site.

Compensation & Benefits

We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your family; expanded family planning benefits; a 401(k) plan with company contributions regardless of your own; open vacation policy; life and disability insurance; generous parental leave; pre-tax transit benefits; mobile phone stipend; wellness reimbursement; charitable gift matching; and more.

Grant Thornton Stax is an equal opportunity employer and affords equal opportunity to all applicants for all positions without regard to race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, disability (except where the disability is a bona fide occupational disqualification), sexual orientation, genetic makeup, predisposition or carrier status, familial or marital status, military or veteran status or any other status protected under local, state or federal laws.
