Position Overview: 

The Assistant Center Store Manager for Wellness is responsible for daily department functions specific to the department, ensures the department runs smoothly and effectively, purchases from all vendors and maintains strong vendor relationships.    

The Assistant Center Store Manager teaches Wellness department staff, provides direction, support, inspiration, and proficient training.  Key Supervisory points of this position include hiring, training, and notifying the Center Store Manager of any staffing issues that may arise. The Assistant Center Store Manager assists the Center Store Manager with supervision of Wellness department staff along with the department operations to ensure proper department merchandising, product quality, and compliance with all health code and unit price regulations. The Assistant Center Store Manager ensures timely and accurate replenishment buying, utilizing systems, HL software, auto-order, cycle counts and data reports to effectively purchase for the needs and budgetary goals of the company. The Assistant Center Store Manager also serves as the “eyes and ears” for the Center Store Manager and Category Manager (CM) for the Wellness Department.


Requirements:
  • At least 2 years of management/progressive supervisory experience 
  • At least 2 years working in a professional retail environment; preferably in the grocery or natural foods industry 
  • Previous buying, inventory management or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience working with local products is preferred     


Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for all aspects of department operations and ensures an organized and smoothly run department 
  • Provides a safe & functioning work environment and follows all established food safety, cleaning and maintenance procedures 
  • Provide Guests with exemplary service through availability on the sales floor; completing special orders, doing research, and maintaining educational materials 
  • Oversees daily merchandising and product maintenance; makes sure shelves are stocked, organized, and clean  
  • Assists with daily department needs when appropriate and necessary  
  • Directs and oversees daily department merchandising, product placement due to volume, cross merchandising, and seasonally appropriate displays 
  • Leads, coaches, motivates and inspires all department staff 
  • Builds a team through mutual trust, respect, and coordination 
  • Acts as a positive role model for all staff 
  • Facilitates knowledge of product lines by providing staff with educational tools and opportunities 
  • Works to resolve staff conflict and issues; coaches staff 
  • Completes replenishment ordering for all vendors in the Wellness Department 
  • Maintains accuracy of inventory and cycle counts 
  • Maintains strong vendor relationships and communication 
  • Tracks product performance trends and sales and relays pertinent facts to the Category Manager

Job Type: Assistant Dept. Manager

Hours: Full-Time, Sunday-Thursday with schedule flexibility required. 

Pay: $20.00- $21.72 per hour, previous experience taken into consideration
