Responsibilities

The Corporate Analytical Division is seeking a full-time Laboratory Technician in the Microbiology and Materials Analysis Laboratory.

Responsibilities include:
* Perform all duties in a safe manor
* Perform analytical testing in a Biological Safety Level 2 lab
* Identify and characterize the key microorganisms responsible for cellulose ester biodegradation in relevant test systems.
* Collaborate to develop and refine internal test methods (BioFUN) to improve reproducibility, relevance, and alignment with external certification protocols.
* Effectively organize and communicate experimental results
* Document work in a lab notebook
* Draft technical reports summarizing research as appropriate

Qualifications

* Minimum of Associates Degree / Technical Diploma in a Scientific Field.
* AND completed the following mandatory chemistry/scientific courses:
o General Chemistry I & Lab
o General Chemistry II & Lab
o Organic Chemistry I & Lab
o Organic Chemistry II & Lab
o Quantitative Analysis - this course can be completed on site.
* Please upload transcripts as proof of degree (in the "Additional Documents" section of the application)
* B.S. Degree in Microbiology and analytical labs strongly preferred
* Experience working in a Biological Safety level 2 laboratory strongly preferred
* Formal training in general laboratory procedures.
* Problem solving, math and science skills and familiarity with statistical methodology.
* Initiative and the ability to work in a team setting. Clear and effective written and oral communication is essential.
* General computer experience with relevant and Microsoft software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Experience with polyester thermoplastics preferred

* Demonstrated ability to manage workflow/schedule and meet timelines
