The Assistant Gardener supports the Horticulture and Grounds team in maintaining the beauty, health, and functionality of landscaped spaces across Renault Winery & Resort. This seasonal role plays a key part in enhancing the guest experience through the care of gardens, vineyards, and farm-to-table growing areas.

The ideal candidate is dependable, self-motivated, and passionate about plants and outdoor work, with a willingness to learn and contribute to a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities

Landscape & Garden Maintenance

  • Maintain high standards of appearance, plant health, and safety across all landscaped areas
  • Water potted plants, garden beds, and landscaped spaces as needed
  • Weed and maintain garden beds, walkways, and surrounding grounds
  • Assist with general upkeep and seasonal planting

Farm & Garden Support

  • Assist with harvesting and maintenance of the Farm-to-Table Garden
  • Support planting, sowing seeds, and maintaining garden growth cycles
  • Assist with maintaining an indoor microgreens growing operation

Vineyard Support

  • Assist with grapevine care including pruning, training, and harvesting
  • Support vineyard operations to ensure plant health and crop quality
  • Work alongside the team during key seasonal vineyard activities

Tools, Equipment & Safety

  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and gardening equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools and work areas
  • Follow all safety procedures while working outdoors and with equipment

Team Collaboration & Culture

  • Promote and embody the VIVAMEE Virtues in all interactions
  • Collaborate with horticulture and grounds team members
  • Maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to lift, bend, kneel, and perform physical labor for extended periods
  • Frequent use of gardening tools and equipment

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Personable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
  • Passion for horticulture, gardening, or outdoor work
