Job Description

Cut & Creaser Maintenance | Now Hiring | Turlock, CA

Compensation Includes:

  • Starting range of $29.31/Hr - paid Bi-weekly

Available Shift:

  • 7AM -3PM Monday - Friday

Position Overview:

The Cutter/Creaser Operator is responsible for maintaining, setting up, and operating cutter/creaser equipment to ensure consistent production of highquality cartons that meet all specifications. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to anticipate production needs in a fastpaced manufacturing environment.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities: Equipment Maintenance - Maintain the cutter/creaser section to ensure continuous production of quality cartons. Plan for press schedules, size changes, and configuration changes. Maintain spare tooling and order replacement parts as needed to keep at least four complete streams in inventory. Quality Verification - At the start of each shift, inspect cartons from every running press. Visually check for missing or broken scores, score timing, cut timing, and uneven knives by hand folding. Confirm board grade, carton size, and configuration against the production docket. Setup Checks - After every size change or jam up, perform dip checks and verify score heights, score timing, cut timing, and cut templates before restarting production. Score Integrity Checks - Inspect for missing or broken male scores after all jam ups. Knife Position Verification - Perform daily cut knife position checks using glass or plastic templates. Recheck any knives that are moved, shimmed, or replaced. Jam Detector Inspection - Check all jam detectors daily to ensure proper function. Cut Pressure Testing - Complete weekly onion skin cut pressure checks on each press. Documentation - Maintain a daily log sheet documenting all work performed and noting any incomplete tasks or pending issues. Lubrication - Check individual gear and eccentric oilers weekly and refill as needed. Maintenance Support - Assist the Maintenance Department with repairs and service work on cutter/creaser equipment. Issue Reporting - Immediately notify leadership of any issues or changes in carton quality or equipment condition. Procedure Compliance - Follow all established procedures and report any changes in equipment condition. Downtime Forecasting - Estimate downtime required for repairs and coordinate with Production to schedule necessary equipment repairs. Has operating knowledge of all production & service equipment. Performs other related duties to contribute to the success of the operation as assigned by supervision.

Qualifications:

 

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
  • Experience with cutter/creaser or similar converting equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret production dockets and specifications
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Effective communication with Production, Maintenance, and Team Leaders

Education, Skills, and/or Experience Required: 

  • Must possess excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Computer usage and typing skills are essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Communicates effectively: conveys facts and information clearly both verbally and orally.

Collaborates well with others: proactively contributes to group objectives; volunteers to help others.

Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands: 

  • Must be able to accurately observe correct paths of travel and areas for product placement.
  • Must be able to communicate and exchange information with teammates.
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Position is regularly scheduled for an 8-hour day shift. Work hours may vary based on operational and business needs. Position includes on-call responsibilities as needed.
  • Adhere to wear PPE in all areas of the manufacturing facility
  • Check work areas for safety hazards and take corrective action as necessary.
